She sat relaxed on her bed letting her fingers fly over her keyboard. She pushed her glasses up her nose and tucked a dark lock of hair behind her ear. Her eyes sparkled as she started typing even faster her fingers ablaze!
Kachi's passion for writing was only surpassed by her love of books. The feel of the old covers, the edge of the papers, and the texture of different kinds of paper. The smell of old books, new books, and all in between. The sound of papers being flipped, the soft sound of a book closing, and even the light thud of placing a book down. Books of all shapes, sizes, and textures.
Kachi had plenty of books at home on an overflowing bookcase in the hallway but she always wanted to read. New books and old books too! She went to bookstores to read all day or to the library to find books to take home. Her entire life was books and hanging out with a small handful of her friends. Not even a handful. She had two friends to hang out with and anyone else was just a acquaintance.
Kachi sat back from her laptop with a content sigh and looked over her work. No, that sentence needed tweaking. That word isn't what I wanted. That paragraph needs to be redone for better flow. She closed her eyes and rubbed her temples. Why couldn't she get it right? Kachi closed her laptop and grabbed her purse. A green large shoulder bag that held three books, an over sized notebook, and a few other things that populated the bottom of the purse. She put on her black sandals as she slid a pen behind her ear and poking a library card into her back pocket.
After a leisurely walk over the railroad tracks pass the fire station she found the library settled behind a shopping plaza. Kachi beamed as she thought of what was to come. Jane Austen sitting quietly to be read. Vladimir Nabokov luring her over with his beautifully morbid words. What about Longfellow waiting for her in the poetry section? It had been a while since their last encounter.
As she entered the door she dropped off her three books in a bin and smiled at the librarians. They all waved, smiled, and one even asked how she was. "How have you been lately? Did those books satisfy you?" Kachi shook her head with a smile. "All books are satisfying only in different ways." The librarian's blue eyes twinkled at the young lady's words.
Kachi turned and walked into her utopia. The land of books!
