Okay, time for real rant. And I’ve got a good one revved and ready. (And yes this is right on the tail of that last poem, but I have a self-imposed schedule to keep, and I intend to stick to it. Or at least make up when I miss.)
Balance of Choice
To all things there is balance. Nothing in this world is completely one way or the other. All that goes up must come down, and all good things must come to an end. Good guys can lose and bad guys can when, and the sun won’t always come out tomorrow. Even if you had a bottom dollar left to bet on it. (Had enough yet?) The simple truths to our world is that nothing is permanent, that there are a minimum of three sides to every argument, and the likelihood of something or someone being completely in the right is the same for someone or something being completely in the wrong. (Okay, no more double speak.)
For seeing things this way, I and other who think this way are often called cynics, pessimists, and chronically depressing people. And though we may share some views and traits with people who fall fully into those stereotypes, there is one major difference. That is, we don’t actually fall into those categories. (I know what you’re thinking. Something like “Buh wha?”) Because despite what people think of us, or call us, we are just realists. What’s the difference, you may ask? Simple really. We, like our views of the world, are double sided. Just as the bubble will always burst and the cookie eventually crumble, so will there be someone to blow still bubbles and bake another batch of cookies. Meaning we don’t lean towards or expect one extreme or the other. We just know that things aren’t likely to settle down, one way or the other, anytime soon. Or ever probably.
Just because things get dark, doesn’t mean we can’t strike a light. Just because the bad guy wins, doesn’t mean we have to let them keep their victory. And just because we fall, doesn’t mean we have to stay down. We are neither pessimists, nor optimists. Neither incessantly depressed nor eternally hopeful. We are realists, and we simply understand that at the root of every problem, and the core of every solution, the is a single commonality. Human beings. Good, bad, up, down, nowhere and everywhere, at the center of all things that is our reality there are human beings. And armed with our greatest ability, that to decide things for ourselves, all outcomes hinge on us and our decisions. So knowing this, what will you decide? How will you proceed? Whatever it may be, just do it. Now go.
