Princess of Japan
A family of honor, a family of nobility A family of grace and constant tranquility The Imperial family of Japan sits in their beautiful palace Going about their daily lives with little, or hidden malace
Knowing nothing of the world outside Commanded to stay in and always hide Though the emperor supposedly has control The Shogunate runs everything as everyone knows
While trouble is brewing outside the palace walls The princess sits and contemplates the demon's fall Long-nosed demons on black dragons came to their beautiful shore They demanded a treaty for more and more
Though she knows nothing about their plan She still sits inside and does what she can She practices her brush strokes and plays her koto What goes on around her, she does not know
She goes through tes ceremonies and admires their elegance As different teas come out, she embraces their fragrance Then Spring finally arrives and the time for beautiful kimonos come The number of joyful festivals equals to one grand sum
Eventually her duty calls, and she leaves without a word She arrives at her new husband's house with samurai offering their swords But does she love him? Who can say? Even if she didn't, she could never have her way
She must now do his biding, obeying every word As he marches with his armies in gigantic hordes She just pays no attention and works on her painting As she sits in the palace, doing nothing but waiting...
