lol why do i do this to myself
(au of an au for ocs lol)
so ku gets to be iroh's youngest (idk when his wife died, it's gonna be later now lol)
and zack gets to be azulon's youngest lol
like this is an au of the naruto au
so 2nd?? 3rd?? life/reincarnation
i just find it funny that i made them water (kiri) and then fire nation here
so age wise:
ku's 10 at series start
and zack's 27 yay (they get to keep their age difference)
for reference:
zuko is 16 at series start
azula is 14/15 idk which
& lu ten, well i'm making him 24 (edit: ok i'm making him 26 actually e we)
ku's name here is miku - it might have been her actual name in naruto au, but she doesn't care, so it doesn't matter
zack's name is suzaku, nice and fiery except he really only answers to zack lol
uh it defo messes up canon something fierce
b/c ku is pretty quiet & likes trolling people but she does have a line in the sand and she does try to keep at it, so...
the war council meeting goes a bit different
so instead of zuko being all stubborn and disrespectful, ku gets to do it.
except at this point azulon is still alive! and so ozai isn't the fire lord
and well, ozai is pretty dishonorable in the agni kai - ku's good at doing a lot with a little and technically she has a lifetime(?)'s worth of fighting experience in her lil' 7yo body so uh. she manages to down ozai except he refuses to accept so when she's about to turn away he lunges forward & burns out her eye (except she's used to that too so .... yeah guess who really didn't like this? zack, yeah zack hates it,, and attacks ozai and it's a clusterbomb)
and well this is the 2nd time ozai was completely out of bounds so he gets some ...jail time lol
-- the first time is y'know when in canon azulon got poisoned?
yeah so zuko runs to find his cool uncle zaku who is around (he never got sent off to soldiering/war b/c too eccentric & uncontrollable)
and zack ends up barging in on ursa & ozai's plotting (or is it just on ozai lol) and attacks ozai b/c well zuko's just a kid who doesn't deserve to die
ofc ozai doesn't take it standing down and burns zack (i'm amazed this life zack gets to spend a burn free life for... well. until his 20s,, much better track record than all previous) but zack manages to knock him down/out - he still doesn't instinctively reach for fire, more of a brawler than a jutsu guy
anyways as a result, azulon doesn't die & ursa doesn't go away but ozai held in sort of contempt for thinking towards killing his son & then azulon instead of for other more reasonable solutions first
also lu ten's alive
b/c idk maybe he was more careful since he had a younger sister to go back to? instead of rushing to his demise (ambush), he only skims the edges of it?
he gets a "cool scar" too lol
except it's not a burn scar, it's a rock fall one
- i'm v tempted to make him obito's reincarnate actually now that i think of it... (maybe he can be but he won't remember.... )
also also b/c zack's actually very good at firebending/fighting even if he goes the brawl route?? both ozai & azula gets their ego dumped a peg,, and while azula gets someone to look up to, ozai gets an annoying complex and i dunno,, he really didn't like iroh in canon but he really dislikes zack here in a different way
so after the agni kai... all the kids are sent out (including zack and lu ten, yes they're being considered kids lol) away from the capital so azulon can deal with ozai;
so it's technically an avatar search but like... the kids know it's not their fault they're being sent away - yes, even zuko
i guess zuko has a better time recouncilling that ozai's behavior is no good b/c it's his baby cousin that burnt/hurt and not him
idk if it takes 3 years lol
or do they take frequent breaks? just not to the capital
and then sometime in that time iroh ends up accompanying zuko
and lu ten's with azula trying to teach her some fun (lol)
and ofc zaku and ku are traveling together
so that's the situation,,
zuko's so much more soft than canon
and azula's more annoyed but she doesn't have those brittle edges anymore
