((Author's Note: Wow...two chapters in one day! heart I'm definitely on a roll! In case your confused with the Italics... I'm using the italics to show that the first few chapters are dreams. I'll write normally once I get to the waking part of the story.))
Michelangelo skated through the quiet streets of New York City. It was a clear night with a full moon, and hardly anyone was out and about. The ocean breeze had cleared away the usual smog, bringing it the smell of water and brine. Heaven above couldn't put together a better night for surface skateboarding. The walls, the rails, the sidewalks and cars--everything was his to ride over and conquer.
He paused, though, when he got to the apartment building where Casey and April lived. Looking up, he spotted Splinter-Sensei on the roof, motioning for his son to join him. Mikey grinned as he climbed up the fire escape; he was always up for quality time with his dad.
"Whazzup, Dad?" the Turtle asked as he hopped onto the flat rooftop. "Great night, isn't it?"
"Yes, it is, my son," Splinter agreed. "The wind brings relief and joy on this night...much like the way you try to brighten our family's lives with your humor," he pointed out with a smile.
"Hey, somebody's gotta lighten the mood. All the others are too serious sometimes, y'know? I mean, yeah, Donny and I get to have fun every now and then, but it'll be neat if I could do that more often with Leo and Raph..."
The Ninjitsu master nodded in understanding. "There is much more to you, however, than what you usually show. It is rare that you reveal your hidden sides, but it is usually for the better of our family--very much like how the weather can change in merely minutes from clear...to storm."
Suddenly, there was the sound of thunder, and the Turtled turned to see distant clouds on the south-western horizion...as well as a few lightning bolts.
"You see, Michelangelo," The sensei continued, "You are very much like the wind and the weather it brings. Most of the time, it brings what we need the most, even if we didn't ask for it. However, there are times when the weather can bring disaster upon us all..."
The scene shifted to the Great Plains, and Mikey was watching a tornado form far from their location.
"For many years, my son, you have been content to remain in the eye of the storm, where it is safe and clear. Now, you must face the storm head on and embrace it."
"Head on? Embrace it?! What are ya talkin' 'bout, Sensei?" Mikey whirled around to face his teacher.
"My son...the tornado is your inner strength. It is part of you."
"...part of me? How so?" The young warrior was terribly confused.
"Each of you, my sons, are much like the main elements of our world. Donatello is as steady and supporting as the earth--"
Donny was seen striking a barren mountain side with his bo...and suddenly, a forest sprouted up all around him.
"--Raphael is as fierce and passionate as the fires beneath us--"
Raph was in full-swing practice mode on the edge of a volcano. Whenever he did an upper-cut or an upper-kick, lava spewed up along with the movement.
"--and Leonardo is as calm, and yet as powerful, as the life-giving waters of this world."
Leo practiced his moves, moving with fluid grace on a rocky shore as large waves crashed all around him.
"But in order to bring the water to the parched earth, in order to temper the fire that would otherwise destroy life...there must be wind. You, Michelangelo, are that wind to our family." The giant rat handed his son the skateboard. "In order to complete your training, and to find your inner strength...you must ride the wind and become one with the storm. Ride the tornado, my son...and embrace your inner element."
Mikey looked at his favorite 'deck', and then at the approaching tornado as lighting flashed around them.
