ASK YOURSELF in the most silent hour of your night: must I write? Dig into yourself for a deep answer. And if this answer rings out in assent, if you meet this solemn question with a strong, simple "I must," then build your life in accordance with this necessity..." - Rainer Maria Rilke
I'm kind of bored......
No math homework tonight. We just started the Quadratic Formula. Mr. T. was all, "Everyone needs to pay attention, because this is probably the most hardest lesson you're going to get all year." So everyone was on edge. It looked a tiny bit intimidating at first, but I only got one of the practice problems wrong. I like doing equations. Just can't graph worth crap......
But he told us something interesting, too. Mastery of something: is when you can not do it for ten years, then pick up a pencil and do it flawlessly. To master something, you have to do it a total of twenty-one times. If you do it wrong, you have to start over. Kind of cool, eh?
Sorry I was so spaced out during Honor Choir...Y'know, reading and everything. I was trying to take myself out of the fictional world the best I could. But it was hard, because of the headache I'm getting from reading. Maybe better contacts would help... I'm going this Saturday.
Oh. Forgot to tell you all on Tuesday. But we started indoor soccer. My team consisted of myself, Colby, Jaymee, Bethany, and Matt P. Bethany plays schooll soccer, and even Matt can kick the ball. So we rocked. I had to be stuck again in goal though... Sometimes I don't mind, but I'd like to just get out once in a while. I'd just like to run a little instead of throwing myself constantly against the hard ground.
So anyway, Brandon (?) was coming down the gym pathetically dribbling. He came up right next to me in the goal, so I kicked the ball away. He tried to shoot anyway, and nailed me in the shin with his leg. The ball went back down and then got out, so we went to the sidelines because our interval was up. It kind fo hurt, but I shook it off. But Brandon was limping off and was almost crying. lol What a wimp. mad
So now I have a huge purple/red bruise on my shin. And Jenny kicked it this morning. It hurt. But I'm no ******** wimp. I deal. Boo-ya. cool
What else what else what else? It's only six, but looks like eight outside. not much homework... I suppose I'll finish Uglies. Oh, and in case you want to know, it's not exactly what you think it might. I'm only through half of it. But it's based in the far future, when large fires destroyed most humans. People who survived rebuilt cities with hoverboards and cool stuff. And when someone turns sixteen, they get an operation. Basically a whole body one that makes them look unnnaturally beautiful. The newly turned ones are called 'pretties'. So a normal person who hasn't gotten the operation is called an 'ugly'. That's their category. So the book is about a girl called Tally and her new friend Shay that doesn't want the operation. Shay runs away to a far off town on a hoverboard where they don't have the operation, and Tally is forced to go look for her because she was threatened by the kind of secret police. If she doesn't find her, then Tally never gets to be 'pretty'. So their whole society is kind of based on being shallow.
It's kind of different than what I'm used to, but I liked Peeps by Westerfeld a lot, so I'm trying this series. I bought the next book in the series, too. Guess what it's called? 'Pretties' of course. So I think based on the back, Tally actually turned her friend in just to be pretty. Sad, ain't it? That our future might turn out like that? That they think they're doing us a favor when being normal is ugly, so you have to get an operation to fit in and party all night long? Yep....
Think I covered everything. Yes.

I LOVE QUADRATIC FORMULAS!! I memorized it during class......... and I love it!! It's so much fun, except I don't like the ones that aren't perfect squares...

Yeah. So do I. The only real problem is that you have to pay a lot of attention to the numbers. But it's so much fun, and a good waste of time.

I hate graphing the forlulas, but hte rest of it is okay I guess. I'm more of a fan of radical expressions. Anyways, don't worry Megs, Tally doesn't betray her friends... on purpose. She does date David though.
