After watching it, I honestly can say I wasn't confused. The plot wasn't that hard to follow, you just had to remember a few characters from the first two movies (Which is hard when all the East India Trading Company people wore white wigs).
The plot basically followed the attempt to get Jack back from Davey Jones Locker. There were several trails of betrayal.
One part of the plot is how the goddess Calipso was imprisoned to human form by the original Pirate Breathren Council, and Barbossa was trying to free her.
Davey Jones now works for the EITC, since they control the chest with his heart in it.
The Tia Dalma (creepy swamp woman who brought Barbossa back) is now on the Black Pearl with everyone else.

Some random things:
- King of the Breathren Council is named, and henceforth all Pirates.
The King is voted by the council, but there hasn't been one in years since each council member votes for himself and so no winner to name King.
Highlight to see - Its Elizabeth. She became one of the Breathren Council when one died and passed his piece of eight onto her. Then when the election happened, everyone voted for themselves, except surprisingly Jack, who voted for Elizabeth. It was hilarious
The reason about the existance of Davey Jones has been revealed.
Highlight to see - He loved the goddess Calipso. She gave him the job of ferrying dead men who died at sea to the other side, and once every 10 years they could be together. After the first 10 years, she wasn't there and he betrayed her to the council and told them how to bind her to human form. He then carved his heart out and abandoned his charge of ferrying dead people, turning him into a monster.
Calipso was revealed.
Highlight to see - Calipso was thought to be Elizabeth, but it turns out to be Tia Dalma. She loved Davey Jones and has a heart musical locket just like he has. It explains why she has the power to bring the dead back (She revived Barbossa).
Barbossa stole the council's pieces of eight (Which funnily enough only 1 was actual a piece of eight, the rest was a bunch of junk) and released Calipso. She turned gigantic and exploded into a bunch of crabs. Then she created the massive sea storm. Woman scorned and all that.
A new captian of the Flying Dutchman was revealed.
Highlight to see - Will was killed by Jones. To save his life, Jack used Will's hand to stab the heart of Jones, killing Jones and making Will immortal. It has a price though, now Will can only step on land 1 day every 10 years. Which is a hard price since he and Elizabeth were married earlier. (Funniest wedding ever)
And no, Will isn't cursed like a Squid as Jones was, and neither is his crew. That curse came about because Jones stopped ferrying the dead people. Since Will is honorable, he'll stay human as long as he keeps ferrying.
We meet Jack's father.
Highlight to see - He is the keeper of the code at the council, and is played by Keith Richards. There is debate about whether he actually is Jack's father, but once you see the scene there is no doubt.
