This morning I had my Gastroscopy It means I had a tube stuck down my throat ... And I was awake the whole time for it
What happened is they asked me if I wanted to be put out under anaesthetic or have a numbing throat spray. I said throat spray...
So into this room I went, with one of those examintaion tables that has the part that can make it into a lounger style chair, or lie flat. There was also cabinets of stuff, and a pillar unit with a screen. Where my gut insides would be seen. A couple of doctors talked to me, then out came the numbing spray.
And it tasted awful. A mix of bananas and the taste of what old dirty fish tanks smell like. Not nice!!! >.<
But it did numb my throat, then I had this weird gizmo I had to bite on to keep my mouth open. Fair enough, I thought, so I put it on. Then came the sterilised camera thing. It was put in my nouth, then pushed down my throat, it was okay for a few seconds, then it came to going over my vocal chords down my oesophagus, that felt really bad, cos it wasnt numb there and I felt EVERYTHING
It wasnt as bad as it sounds, it just spasmed me out and I gagged a few times, then it was okay, once the thing was in far enough. The real issue was that my tongue was pushed down a lot by the wiring, that made me feel icky. But I didnt puke all over the doctor - the tube thing had suction so it was filtered out. Lucky for him is all I can say, lol
I even felt the tubing as it poked about in my stomach. It felt like a stomach gurgle, but with more force and only in a certain area of the intestine. Then, when all was seen, it was pulled out. Not too bad, until I was told they pumped my gut with air and that I would be burping for the whole day. How lady-like!! lol
But nohthing was found, so more tests need to be done. Ah well.
Til we know, ah well!
