Perspective.
You're on the top of a mountain. I mean, you're up there! It was a mile walk up, but if you just cut straight down, it would only be a quarter of the way.
The sun is set and a half moon is up... you can still see because the glow of the sun is there, but it's making everything grey. The grey factor has made you blind to the fact that the shortcut down the mountain is actually the long way because it's all just bushes.
The bushes up here are evil.
They're dry, hard, and they'll tear you to shreds if you let them. They're also really thick, and about 5-6 feet high.
You slide down the mountain.
There is no touching the ground, you're just sliding over bushes, hoping you don't go over a cliff. You hope the bushes keep you on the top too, because if you fall through them, it'll take you a LONG time to get up on the top again, and if you don't get back on top... there's no getting down the mountain.
I fall through the bushes.
They're over my head and I can't see anything. I think this is the point where I lost the phone.
I get out and keep going.
At the next rock outcropping I take a breath, feel my jeans, and start swearing... because somewhere between here, and a whole lot of a bushes is my tiny little cell phone with a quiet little ringtone.
I'm cut up, scratched, bruised, and beaten, and I decide I'll come back and do it all again the next day to see if I might be able to find my phone because I don't have insurance.
I fail, and decide it's worth the hundred sum dollars it'll cost me to buy a new one xp
