CHAPTER 4
Later that night Paxton laid awake listening to the sound of the storm hitting against the windows and the creaking of the house. Every once in a while she would look towards the door to be sure nobody or nothing was there. She began thinking of her parents and what they were doing. God first day here and I already want to leave. Well nobody can blame me, those things attacked ashes and me. What were they and what do they want with us? Paxton thought as she turned in her bed. She heard ashes turn in her bed and cough. “Ashes?” She said lightly. “Yeah?” Paxton sat up in bed. “What’s wrong? I thought you were asleep.” Said Pax looking over at ashes. “You seriously thought I could sleep? After everything that happened? You didn’t get touched by the beast I did.” Growled Ashes as she turned in her own bed. “Ashes I’m sorry. It wasn’t my fault I couldn’t get downstairs in time a monster was up….here….too… OH MY GOD THE WINDOW!” She cried as she jumped up and ran out the door. Ashes jumped up after her and ran to catch up with her soon they were running together. “What are you doing?” Said Ashley panting once they reached their destination. Paxton held a finger to her lips and creped the door open and peeked inside Ashes heard panting and backed away from the door Pax looked over at her with a desperate look in her eyes. Slowly she slammed the door shut. The looked at each other then took off running down the hall. “RYAN!” Screamed Ashley when she saw him at the edge of the hallway, He looked at her then walked away like in a trance. They heard a crash behind them and looked back the thing had broken down the door and was looking at Ashes. They began to back up and then the animal took off running. They Screamed and ran after Ryan. “Help!!” They both screamed the saw a figure down the hall. He turned and waited on them. It wasn’t Ryan or Kyle but he was in a uniform. They reached him and looked behind them the monster was in clear view but it didn’t see which way they went. “Help us please!” Paxton said franticly looking over her shoulder at the beast stalking around. Ashes looked around for a weapon of some sort but the hallway was completely empty except for doors and they didn’t have the keys to any. The man looked down at Paxton and grabbed her by the arm then he grabbed Ashley. “Hey-” they cried out then he pushed them forward towards the demon. This demon looked more like a wolf than the others did. It turned and saw them and started to growl. Ashes raised her leg and kicked the man in the shin, making him let go of them. “RUN!” Yelled Paxton. They took off deciding it was better to take their chances with the wolf than to sit there being held by the man waiting to get killed by the wolf. So they ran down the hall towards the monster before them, it was their only chance of escape.
