'Something's wrong.'
Niina noticed it soon after she and Keru left the mountain cave where she had been kidnapped by that winged man. Keru was acting differently, like there was soemthing he kept thinking about, but didn't want anyone to know about.
'Something's definatly wrong... But what is it?'
Niina kept thinking about this, wondering how she could help, when she suddenly realized seomthing. 'If something's wrong, then that's a good thing! Especially if it's directed at me! Keru is the one who threatens my organization, and since my mission is have him killed, or at least, his plans to destroy the Rooks destroyed. So all I have to do is find out what's bothering him, and poke the wound until it bursts, therefore completing my mission without having to kill him!
She glanced back at Keru, who was watchng the rocks underneath his feet, and she sighed. "Keru?"
He looked up quickly, saying, "Eh? Oh, ah, what is it, Niina?"
"Er... You look like.... something's on your mind. What is it?"
"Uh?" Keru blinked, stopping.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to... I just... want to know... you know, in case I can help!"
Keru stayed silent for a little bit, the only sign that he was still alive was the slight blush that creeped into his cheeks. Niina watched him, her eyes showing deep concern.
"You were travelling with the Shining Knight and you didn't even know it?"
"Do you even have any idea who you're travelling with?"
"Who Niina really is?"
"Keru? Keru?"
"Huh?" Keru was snapped out of his thoughts, and looked at Niina, who was now a foot away from him.
She breathed a sigh of relief as she heard him make a sound and look at her. "Okay, good, you're still alive...." she said, smiling. "So, uh... Are you okay with answering my question? The one about what's on your mind?"
"Oh... ah, well..." Keru stuttered for a bit, trying to think up the best way to frm the sentences, then he sat down, leaning against a boulder. Niina soon followed, bringing her knees up to her metal-plated chest and watching Keru, waiting for him to speak. He took a deep breath, then began speaking.
"When I first met you, it seemed like we were a lot alike. We both hated the Rooks, at least. Everything seemed liek it would be fine,a nd we would get to the Rook's headquaters quickly, and then kill them all off, and everyhitng would be great.... But when we got to the first city... And we slept in that inn... someone came in... to see you. He told me that I ddin't really know you, that I didn't know who you were..."
He didn't notice that Niina had frozen stiff, her eyes staringout in front of her in wide-eyed fear.
"It was haunting me for a while, niggling me at the back of my head, and it came in even stronger after you were kidnapped. He said that you were the Shining Knight, and then I finaly found out I didn't know anything about you... All I know is what you look like, and that you hate the Rooks..."
Niina's eyes returend to normal, a sober, mopey hazel color that glanced at Keru. He turned to look at her, his own orange eyes staring into hers as he spoke softly.
"I don't want to be the only person who doesn't know all about you. Niina... I want to know about you. Are you the Shining Knight? What do you like? I want to know this sort of stuff..."
Niina stayed silent, her mouth open jsut enough to breathe through it, watching Keru. She was surprised by this. 'My plan won't work... The only way I can break him is by telling the truth, and that might just make him hate me... I don't want that... I just... don't want that...' Niina closed her eyes for a second, then opened them again.
"Yes, I am the Shining Knight. I am called that because I am a knight, and since I try and fight against what people hate, they see me as a shining figure, therefore I am called the Shining Knight. As for things I like... I like to fight against what I don't like, sweet foods..." Niina began listing off her likes and dislikes, Keru smiling at each and every one, watching her.
'I want to know more about you Niina... Tell me more about you, so that when the time comes, I can tell you about myself...'
