Chapter 3




After a short rest Max and the others set off. Max’s wounds had a way to go before they were completely healed but he would not let this stop him. While the group was walking Max couldn’t help but look at Grim. The way he fought was flat out scary. How could he move so fast? And also he felt as f Grim held back when they were fighting. Max had to ask. “Hey grim could we talk for a sec”. Grim looked at Max and nodded. Max walked closer to Grim. “That was some fight back there. You really messed me up. But I need to ask something. Did you hold back when we were fighting?” Grim sighed and said “Look kid you won and that’s that. Know just drop the subject ok.” Grim walked ahead of Max. Max looked at Grim and cursed under his breath. Creed walked over to Max. “Kid don’t worry about it. Be happy you won and still have your life. Oh and to answer you question yes he did let you win.” Max looked at Grim and sighed. He knew that he had let him win. He just knew it. “But why did he let me win” Shadow came over and laughed. “Kid why would he go all out on you. Now I will say that you put up a hell of a fight but the only way Grim will go all out is if he was about to die. So don’t worry.” Shadow said walking off with Creed. Max felt real bad. He felt like he could have done better but it was to late now. The group kept walking until they came to a small town. “Let’s rest here for a while. I would like to sleep in a bed for once”Red said walking into the town. The others went into the town as well. Once in the town they all looked around. There was no one on the streets. Grim looked around the town and sighed “Something not right about this town. “ Max nodded and said “yea where are all the people. “ Red looked around as well. “Don’t worry. Im sure there all in there home’s.” Grim looked at Red and shook his head. “How dumb can one person be? I guess when you get old the brain is the first thing to go huh.” Max grabbed Grim by his shirt “What did you say. Do you know what kind of man Sir Red is? His strength is great. Take back what you said. Now.” Grim looked at Max like he was crazy. “Max let him go. Let’s just find someplace to rest ok guys.” Red said walking off. Grim kept looking at Max. “You heard him. Let go of me if you want to keep that arm” Max let go and walked by Red. Grim walked past him with a smile on his face “you made the right choice kid.” Just then Max felt some pain on his arm. He looked down to see some blood coming out of a small cut on his arm. But when did this happen. Did Grim do this? Max looked at Grim and Grim looked back. Grim took out a dagger and tossed it at Max’s feet. That’s what he used to cut him. Once they found a place to rest Max wrapped up his arm and sat down. Every once in a while Max would look over at Grim and sigh. Just then Grim got up and walked away from the group. “Im going to go look for some people. I still say something doesn’t fell right.” With that Grim walked into the center of the town. Max got up after the others went to sleep and followed Grim. He saw Grim just standing there with his hand on one o his swords. The wind picked up and the dust blew throughout the town. Max looked around and started to shake. Something wasn’t right just as Grim had said. “Its ok kid. I know your there. Come on out.” Grim said looking at Max. Max laughed abit and walked out. When he got to Grim he sighed and asked “What’s going on”. Grim shook his head. “Im not sure. But since we came into this town I felt like something was off. No people walking in the streets and no one came out of there homes when we walked into the town. We were talking pretty loud so I know if people were here they would here us. But no one came out. Not even a rat. I don’t like this. I say we leave now.” Max looked at Grims eyes. He really did look worried. “So you mean to tell me that there is no one in this town.” Grim sighed and said “Let me say this. I sense that no human is in this town. But I do feel something here.” Max thought that maybe demons lived here. If so then it would be nothing to worry about. But to be on the safe said Max turned to get the others. When he did he saw a shadow stand upright in the road. “Hey Grim look at this.” When Grim turned he saw the same thing. “Ok that’s what I felt. Shadow demons.” Max looked at Grim and the Shadow demon did the same thing. “What the hell is a Shadow demon?” Grim took out his swords and said “It’s a demon that takes over your shadow. Everything you do they do. And then when you get weak enough the demons comes out of your shadow and kills you.” Grim turned around and there was another shadow demon with its swords out. “Well this is it kid. Looks like we have to fight along side each other huh.” Max took out his sword and the shadow did the same thing. “Looks like it.” Max and Grim dashed off toward there shadows and attacked. Grim clashed with his shadow and sparks flew. Every time Grim attacked the shadow would block and counter. The same went for Max. Grim looked at Max and dashed over to him. Grims shadow chased after him. When he got to max he said “You take my shadow I will take yours” Max nodded and went after Grims shadow. Max clashed with the shadow and started to attack. It was easy to kill the demon when it block all the time. Grim killed Max’s shadow with no problem. When they were done Max smiled and said. “We make a good team huh.” Grim sighed and turned around just to see something that looked like a ninja rush toward Max. Grim ran toward Max and pushed him out the way. The ninja looking demon slashed Grim across his chest and blood sprayed on the ground. The wound was deep but Grim tried to keep his cool. “He…kid….that’s what I felt when we walked into this town. It was a Human. But he was clashing his power with a demon.” Grim gave into his wound and fell to the ground. Max ran over to him just to be stopped by Grims sword. “Don’t think about it. Now is not the time to worry about me. Kill him and then get me the hell out of here” Grim said closing his eyes. Max pointed his sword at the ninja. The ninja walked past Grims body and then looked at Max. “Little boy you are out matched”. Just then more ninja’s came from the houses in the town. Max kept looking at the one ninja. The Green aura came around him again. But this time stronger then before. The sword had the aura around it to. Max dashed toward the ninja and cut him right down the middle. The ninja spilt in two and died. The other ninjas then ran toward Max with there swords in hand. They tried to cut Max but with blinding speed Max broke all the ninja’s swords. Grim opened his eyes and saw Max. At this point Max was stronger then Grim. “No way….is this the same guy.” The ninjas started to run but Max dashed after each of them. He looked like nothing but a flash. When he stopped chasing them and put his sword way blood sprayed from all the ninjas body. It was if it rained blood. Max walked over to Grim and helped him up. Once they got back to the others Max was back to normal. The others were asleep so Max was the one that cleaned Grims wounds. Grim looked at Max and sighed “You did a great job out there kid. Made me look like a chump.” Max shook his head “No I didn’t. Truth be told I don’t even know where the power came from.” Grim looked at Max’s sword and smiled. “I think I do. It’s that sword of yours. Don’t ask me how but that’s what saved us back there.” Max looked at his sword and sighed. When the others woke up Grim and Max got up ready to go. So once again they set off to find the two doors. While they were walking Grim patted Max on his back and said “Your right kid. We do make a good team”.
