Seems I'm back on Gaia for the time being. Not sure how often I'll be on given that my graphics card on my main computer has gone apeshit and died, rendering that computer useless, but I'll be on; that's for sure.
I've wiped most of my friendslist. Some of you may have noticed; some not. Most of you probably won't read this update anyway, but... well, better to be safe than sorry? I dunno. The verdict is that nearly everone is gone except those that I still talk to and those that have reserved a "seat of honor" as timeless friends. No offense to anyone. If I've ejected you by mistake, leave a comment and I'll throw you back on.
I'm looking for a good thread or place to RP in lately... can't find anything. Seems like the quality of Gaia RP has died even further since I left. My current character is a mage (see profile below for details), so it'll have to be something that can accomodate magic or the arcane, I suppose. Though I'm sure I'm capable of pulling out the old Durandal the Rampant profile if needed for melee, har har.
I miss alot of you old guys. I know I've been out of touch and I'm sorry. I know probably like 2 people are going to actually read this and say "oh hay look its Durandal wuts goin on in dis journal", but hey, just stating the obvious.
Anyway, without further sniveling...
Gaian Username: Karhallarn
Name: Roland Tradactus Dymaetryas Tarachadren IV
Age: 74
Gender: Male
Country: Asiliad
Race: Plane-touched Human
Allegiance: Asiliad
Class: Mage
Weapon/s: None
Magic: Roland commands the elements and the arcane with a skill that is unattainable by most creatures. It is not simply a weapon to him; studying the arcane and its effects on the world (and its uses for good and evil) is something he has devoted all of his magically-lengthened life to. His Spellbook (a compendium of all research he has done into magic and the elements) is considered to be the equivalent of a holy artifact to aspiring magi across Arcon. Where most magi prefer a rod or a full fledged staff to channel their works into the material plane, Roland uses his own body, bringing him closer (he claims) to the powers he has such reign over. He also possesses a spectacular ability to detect magic auras and trapped magic power within both creatures and objects. The origin of his incredible power remains something of a mystery to the current day; there are some who point to draconic blood in his veins, while others claim them to be a celestial gift, and still others speculate at unholy bargains made with darker powers. Whatever the reason, the answer is clear; there is very little magic in this world that is beyond his ability to harness.
Element: Though Roland is proficient in harnessing most of the elements for battle, he prefers Fire for direct combat. From this he derives one of his nicknames: Firestar.
Occupation: Master Apothecary, Warmage of Asiliad
Appearance: Roland's appearance is quite different from the other magi of Asiliad, making him quite easily recognized. Unlike his peers, he has cast aside the traditional robes of his order, instead wearing chain-mail armor forged from the incredibly rare material arcanite. Though little more resilient than steel, the dull metal is very light and flexible, making it ideal for protection while allowing the delicate movements necessary for spellcasting. All other cloth he wears is shadowy in nature; pitch black and almost seeming to fade from existence. On the back of his long flowing cloak is a large blue cross. Perhaps his most defining feature is the helm he always wears, forged from blackened arcanite with two simple slits for vision, over which he wears his hood. In the past fifty years of his life, no soul has seen what lies underneath this mask, and this is made all the more interesting given that his voice has a hollow ring to it. Roland is never seen without the Spellbook of Tarachadren; his life's work. The immense book is five inches thick, and growing every day as he continues to add more pages. Typically it hangs from a special strap at his waist, much like a sheathed sword, though he is not unknown to carry it around in one hand.
Best Attribute: Intelligence
Advantage/s: Excellent knowledge and wisdom, extremely powerful ranged combat.
Weaknesses: Physically very weak. Casting powerful spells can take time, leaving him vulnerable. Cannot use many of his more powerful spells while silenced. May suffer from arcane burn or arcane backlash when using magic for an extended period of time. Often extremely arrogant.
Pack: Spellbook of Tarachadren, mana-imbued ink, rune-etched quill, small bag of runesand, dimensional coin purse.
Companion/s: Roland's animal familiar is a sentient panther named Surida'al. A natural tracker, the pitch black animal is most often used by its master to scout and hunt things of interest. It's eyes perpetually glow a dull white.
Bio: Roland was born the son of Lord Roland Tradactus Dymaetryas Tarachadren III in Avangelon 52 - what is now referred to as the Year of the Enlightened Sky - in the city of Mayhoff. Displaying incredible intelligence from birth (as would be expected of one of his lineage), and a lust for magic from the age of three, he was privately tutored in the ways of the arcane from the ages of five to 14, before his father arranged for him to be sent to apprentice with one of the greatest Asiliad magi, Archmage Danacrus Fallian. Under his master's watchful eye, the aspiring Roland trained for ten long years, before being enlisted into the small group of war magi under the Steel Regent's command. At age 25, he was the youngest mage to join their ranks. It was around this time that Roland, whilst searching elven ruins within the mountains, came across a strange history book that spoke of channeling magic through the body and of the dark arts of necromancy; something which his aging master had chosen not to tell him about. Keeping this knowledge to himself and stripping the pages from the book, he rebound it as his personal spellbook, beginning to log his adventures, experiments, and self-designed spells within it. Soon after he returned from the ruins however, it was rumored that he suffered a grave injury in some manner of accident, and he began wearing a mask along with his traditional robes, keeping his skin hidden. At the age of 37, battles broke out across the countryside between fighters from Kraden who had infiltrated the country, and the Asiliad defenders. The Asiliad magi were called upon to defend their country from dark necromancers, and in the engagements which followed, Roland gained much of his renown as a swift and cunning spellcaster. Gathering the daggers of the necromancers he defeated, he was able to amass enough arcanite to have suit of chainmail forged, along with a helm, which he wears to this day. Two weeks after Roland turned 51, his father died, and he inherited the estate of Tarachadren, as it's only heir. Much of it was turned into Mayhoff's new headquarters for the Warmagi, as Roland began spending most of his time abroad in the countryside, seeking artifacts and knowledge. In the current day, though he has distanced himself significantly (physically) from Mayhoff and the Court of Asiliad, he remains one of the country's most elite agents. He is both respected and reviled in the country of Kraden, whose large sect of elite magi aspire to outdo him, but have yet to succeed.
Other: Known formally as Sir Tarachadren within the Court of Asiliad, and as Roland the Firestar throughout much of Asiliad's countryside, and Kraden.
This is just copypasta'd from a good RP that I found (and unfortunately died) a little while back... obviously some information is subject to change.
Let me know if you find anything where it'd be appropriate.
