Silence Eternal
Can you hear it?
The silence is deafening…
I sit in the bitter cold, the frost forming perfect shimmering crystals on the ground-
I speak of how things should have been…
And only the silence hears me.
I sit alone… Alone, the darkness falling across my face, shrouding my eyes in shadow-
I speak of things long past- life, and love…
And only the silence echoes my words.
I sit, pulling my knees to my chest, glaring at the darkest ebony hue that has surrounded my soul-
I speak so many words of you… To you…
And only the silence repeats them.
I stand slowly, moving with a certain grace, my footsteps falling silently- Yes, how fitting-
I glance over my shoulder, wishing you were there…
But only the silence remains.
I look down to my hand, the moonbeams dancing across the sparkling blade there-
I turn my face to the stars, speaking angry apologies…
And the silence laughs back at me.
I smile faintly down at my release, the glimmering hope that shall carry me from this torment.
I look back up, my eyes shining with cold rage.
This silence shall haunt me no more!
Can you hear it?
Does the silence play across your ears?
Then I leave you with this last whisper in the night…
