Chapter I
'Damn late again!' He thought, silently panicing. Throwing open the front door, he bounded down the stairs, the sound of his steps already out of hearing range only seconds later. Holding his books protectively near his sides, the teen raced down the street. He was going to be late for class again. Something he really couldnt afford. His teachers were already on his case enough...now to mention he was falling behind in his class studies. It was really starting to become a pain.
Reaching the school grounds, he pushed his pace just a little harder as he reached the grass. " Come on come on..." he breathed, his chest heaving with the effort. It was hard enough to run, but to speak and run at the same time was nearly impossible. Leaping over the steps, Roxas pushed open the heavy wooden doors and slid down the hall, nearly loosing his footing and falling over. Reaching out, he placed a hand on the wall to steady himself. Taking deep, labored breaths he glanced around. People were still standing around the halls. Immediately his eyes narrowed, covering the his beautifully colored eyes in teh process. Starting towards his locker, he glared at the smug looking teenager leaning against it, " I hate you." he mumbled.
"You thought you were late?" his friend asked.
"Yeah, but now I see i'm not." Roxas said between heavy breaths.
"Nope. When I called you I told you that so you would try to get here as fast as possible. And it worked." He smiled brightly.
"You are such a pain in my rear, Riku!" he said.
"I try to be." Riku said. "So Roxas, how long did it take you to get here?" Riku asked. Roxas replied by swinging his arm in Riku's direction. Riku was used to it by now though, and ducked in time.
Riku just laughed and said, "Well now that you aren't late, what do you want to do for the remainder of the time?"
"I dunno. Hey, let's slide down the second floor stairs. I've always wanted to do that." Roxas suggested.
"Nah, I did that yesterday." Riku said.
"Well we could..." Roxas started to say, but didn't finish, because someone interrupted.
"Excuse me, could you tell me the way to the office?" someone behind them said. They both turned to see a boy with brown spiky hair. He looked about Riku and Roxas's age.
"I'm new and I'm kinda lost." the brown haired added as he scrathed the back of neck in apparent embarrassment.
"Yeah, it's just around that corner." Roxas smiled sweetly and pointed toward the corner from which he had almost fallen while turning.
"Thanks. Oh by the way my name's Sora." he said.
"I'm Roxas." Roxas said.
"Riku." Riku said simply.
"Bye!" Sora said as we walked to the office.
After Riku was sure Sora was out of hearing range he said,"Man, what a dork! Did you see the clothes he was wearing? Man, he must've just flown in from the circus!" He started laughing and holding his sides. Roxas didn't see the humor in it, but laughed anyway.
"Hey you guys!" someone called. It was there friend, Yuffie. She was just coming around the corner.
"Hey Yuffie. How's it goin?" Roxas asked.
"Great! Hey did you see the new boy? Man is he cute, or what?" she said. She began working at her combination on her locker.
"What? You think that circus dork is cute?" Riku said in disbelief.
"No, I think that sweet new boy is cute. He's not a circus freak." Yuffie said, opening her locker.
"Well, whatever." Riku shrugged. He began working on his combination too. Roxas walked over to his own locker and did the same.
"So why's Roxas here so early?" Yuffie asked, shutting her locker after she grabbed all the neccessary books.
"That was my doing." Riku smiled widely.
"He called me, telling me I was going to be late if I didn't rush here as fast as I could. So i did." Roxas explained. Yuffie chuckled.
"That's Riku, always lookin' out for his friends!"
"Right, sure. Looking out for friends, my a**!" Roxas said. "I hardly call telling a friend a lie just to see how fast he'd come running 'looking out for a friend.'
"Oh lighten up Roxas, he was just trying to see that you weren't late again." Yuffie said as she flipped her hair out of her face.
Roxas sighed and said gently," I know, I know."
"So, who wants a snack from the vending machine?" Riku offered, trying to change the subject.
Short update...umm yeah. sweatdrop
