Carpe Diem Ad Muertum
Sieze the day, to the death. There is no potential that shall be passed by, there is no piece of glory to fall by the wayside, there is no soul to left unsaved by the brilliance of language. As writers, we are gods.
Poetic Noise
We have to write poems for this group I joined called Poetic Noise, and this week's topic is betrayal. So here we go. Didn't edit much, by the way, so anyone who catches grammatical errors or something that makes no sense, please let me know. Oh, and when/if I share it, I'll make sure I post the Tarot meanings. Also, there are some spaces that didn't show up that make the rhythm easier to feel, but that's Gaia's fault. 4 j00:

Don't give me that look!
Don't look at me!
It was you who flipped over the number XIII,
It was you who reversed the cup-wielding Queen!
You asked me, "What does my future mean?"
So
don't
get
mad
When I tell you
who you are!

Why did you say you'd always love just me?
You knew what it would do to someone shy,
When I so often seek the reason why
I love so many of the ones I see.
My world of black and white is rarely real
And all the others here just want to die
I've acclimated all I can, but sigh
With joy whene'er a glance of yours I steal.
Each morning I apply my hiding paint
Monochromatic signature of class
Defining me as one type I can be
Your colors made me feel a martyred saint
And definition of profane and crass
The paradox meant naught when you chose me.

They all look at me and laugh
They laugh like that at me
I chose the Moon as my white queen
Because their World was so hard for me to speak.
It's hard
you understand
because...
I'm brighter than they.

Your smooth, scarlet smile
'Lighting on my mascara
Under grey irii

Your great, sapphire eyes
Watching for Judas talking
But it's only me.

Your bright, auburn hair
As you turned away from me
And my pale, white face.

You still think I betrayed you?
What could I possibly do?
Especially when you never really loved me
Especially when I'm lost in this clearwater river
Whenever you pull me off the banks
To show me off, because
I can "read the future."
I guess I was exotic?
Like a lab rat with wings?
And you say, "It was you who betrayed me?"

You talked to a puce-colored man
After shying from what I said?
Can’t you see the pale horse he’s riding
Is tinted green and shod with square shoes?
If you had listened to me,
You’d be ready when he tries to reap you like the rest.
If you had listened to me…

I'm
not
the
Deplorable ignorable
Strangely adorable
Creature who's preachin'
About leavin' the bereaved
And stereotypical world
To fit a more sippable mold
So tell me the stories you told
And the lies I foretold
'Cause I thought we were old
Enough to stuff
A bluff down someone's throat
But you joke with that bloke
About stokin' my flames
And thinkin' I'm tamed.

And... And you're really the same
As everyone else
That I've felt
Was better
and more colorful
than I was.
