i've been pretty busy lately doing some house hunting. the management company for the building i live in is a model of inefficiency and incompetence and i don't really like working for them much at all plus i've been living here for 12 years in an efficiency not unlike my gaia house and it's just time to move on to bigger and better things. but i can't afford the rent on a decent apartment anywhere else (i've stayed here so long because my rent is discounted as a caretaker). that's where my equally disenchanted friends come in. they're engaged and living in seperate apartments right across the hall from each other and right next door to me. they also happen to qualify for a home buyers loan and the market here is nice and soft right now. the plan is to buy a duplex and they live in one half and we rent the othr half. because she is both working and in college her schedule currently doesn't allow any time for house hunting so i'm handling that end of it. i go through the ads and find the ones that are in our price range and in acceptable areas and then she has the realtor set up walk throughs and i'm bringing my camera along to take pictures to show her after work. if we find one we like we'll make a bid on it and then hopefully be moving from here. i must admit i'll miss my cute tiny apartment with it's view of the downtown skyline, but i won't miss the thumping stereos, screeching tires and sirens. i'll happily trade it all for a place with an actual bedroom that isn't the other half of the living room and maybe a garage to park my car in during the winter. yeah that'd be nice. so anyway i'm not ignoring people but my attention has been slightly diverted lately. wish us all luck eh?
