We set up camp in the woods. Kagome and I made dinner, and set up everything around a fire. We were in the middle of eating when I heard something. I knew that InuYasha must have heard it because of his ears, and sure enough, when I turned to him, he was looking into the forest. "I heard something." he said, sounding scared. It sounded normal with his little kid voice, but looking like InuYasha it didn't suit him. "Can you smell anything?" I asked him. He sniffed the air. "I can't. Too much food smells in the air." I nodded. "Well, then , lets you and me go into the forest a little more, towards the noise." He looked at me, uneasy. "What, you aren't SCARED, are you?" I asked him , teasing. He glared at me. "No!" and he got up. "Let's go." he said. Kagome put a hand on her shoulder. "Be careful, o.k.?" she asked. InuYasha nodded. "I'll be fine, Kagome." he said. Then the two of us went into the ofrest where we heard the noise. InuYasha sniffed the air and I heard him growl. "Uh....you o.k.?" I asked. "Its that damn demon!" he snarled. I cracked up. "WHAT?" he asked. "S-s-sorry," I said, "but it sounded so funny hearing you curse in your little kid voice." He looked at his feet. "I hate being little. You think its so funny, but its not." I stared, then I had such a sudden rush of emotion that I couldn't even explain. I picked him up and hugged him. "Oh InuYasha! I don't think its funny! I promise, we'll get you back to normal! EVen if it kills me!" I felt his body get hot. He looked up at me. "You don't need to die." he mumbled. I laughed and put him down. Then I heard the noise again. I had an idea. "InuYasha, listen. You go back to camp. See the light? I'll go see the demon." InuYasha looked angry. "What?" I asked. "You can't fight it yourself." he said. I sighed. "InuYasha, you can't help. You're too little to fight, and I'll be working to protect you AND me at the same time, and.....I dont'know if I can do that. I don't want you to get hurt." I finally said. InuYasha stared up at me. "I don't want you to get hurt either." he said. I smiled. "I'll be fine;go." I said, and made my way to the noise. InuYash awatched me go, then he went back to camp. When he got back everyone stared. "Where's Bella?" Shippo asked. "She went to fight the demon I smelled. It was the demon that did this to me." he said to him. Kagome, Miroku and Snago shared a worried look. "Well, she IS strong." Kagome finally said. "Yes, I think...I HOPE she'll be alright..." Miroku trailed off.


I finally got to the demon, and it didn't see me at first. It wasn't until I shot a Dark Orb at it did it turn around. "YOU!" it roared. And we began to fight. I kept throwing Dark Orbs at it, and it kept trying to hit me with its big fists. I though tthat I was going to win, but when I wasn't looking, something hit me square in the back. It hurt a lot, too much to move. But after it hit me, it looked scared. "WHAT?" I asked. He snarled at me. "You're gonna hurt me!" it cried, and ran away. 'well, thats stupid of it' I thought. 'DUH I was going to hurt it. I've been fighting it for 15 minutes now. Why would it suddenly realize that I would hurt it?' Suddenly, I felt my body shifting. I didn't know what was happening, but after my body moved, it didn't hurt anymore. I sat up, and looked around. I couldn't see the baby demon anymore. "Well, I guess I better get back." So I got up....and found that I was only about 3 feet tall! I looked at myself. I was little! 'CRAP!' I thought. 'That stupid thing babied me! THATS why it was so scared I was gonna hurt it! 'Cause it got me! Really bad!' I looked around. Suddenly, I felt scared. 'Stop it' I told myself. 'You're acting like.....' then it hit me. I was acting like a little kid. You don't know where you are in a dark place, you get scared. Now I understood how InuYasha felt when I played tricks on him. I started crying, but I wasn't really sad. It was just a reaction to being frightened. But at last I got myself to stop, and I headed for a faint light that was the campsite, nervous about what they'd say.


OH! I bet'cha you didn't expect THAT to happen!!!
