In life, all anybody wants is to find that special someone. That’s what I’m currently doing. I think that I’ve found him, only to be disappointed again and again. But this time I’m sure. I’m sure that this time, it’s going to be ok. He’s sweet, nice, funny, understanding, and we have so much in common. I talk to him, we hang out after school, and we’re even in the same club!

So a long time ago, I asked him who he was taking to the dance. He said that he hadn’t planned on taking anyone, but was going to the dance anyway. Then I told him that I was planning on going, but I might have to go alone. I was really hoping that he would ask me. I could see myself shaking. I could hear my heart pounding. I just stood there, waiting like some little kid. Nothing happened. He just said “Good luck”, and walked off.

I was crushed. I felt like my world fell apart. Why? Why didn’t he ask me? I’m always nice to him; I’m always on his side. Why? Did I do something wrong? Like it matters. All that I know is that I’m going to keep trying this time. No matter what.

Because of what happened, I’ve become wiser, stronger. I even have more courage now. I really want to thank that guy. He made me what I am today. I want to thank him. It doesn’t matter that I didn’t go to the dance with him. It doesn’t matter that I was alone at the dance. The only thing that matters is that I’m ok. And that I can keep going.
