It’s a long post but here it goes:
Thank god for real life friends! If it weren’t for them I’d surely have dropped dead by now, lol. This has been the most tiring week I have ever lived through. We had 12 people total helping haul freight up and down the stairs at both houses until two of them got injured then we went down to 10 helpers. We had 3 apartments to empty out. It really didn’t look like a lot of stuff until we starting moving it. But it’s a done deal now; we’re outta there and busy unpacking here….
Saturday the 29th: we were all packing like crazy until the truck and helpers arrived at 7pm. I was done packing first so we started on my place. While we were all running up and down the stairs with my stuff, mike and amber were busy throwing the last of their stuff into boxes and then theirs got loaded in. during all of this our friend chuck slipped on the stairs and fell while carrying a heavy box. He dislocated his shoulder and went to the emergency room. Our other injury was a neighbor kid who was helping out; he also slipped and fell on the stairs but was not seriously hurt (his mom made him go home after that). It took us 2 trips with a 17-foot uhaul truck to get the bulk of it over to the new place. We finally called it quits around 1am. By that time my legs felt like jello…I swear I have never gone up and down the stairs so much in all my life.
Sunday the 30th: I woke up in pain. OMG, I never hurt so badly in my whole life. I could barely walk my legs hurt so bad. I took a handful of ibuprofen and sat around in a sea of boxes until they kicked in enough for me to move. Even then I was still sore. However the clock was still ticking and I had my mom coming to help me clean up the old place (plus she wanted to see the new place). We were happy to discover that the cable outlet was live and we at least had TV reception, no phone or Internet though. Not like I had the energy to talk on the phone or surf anyway, lol. My mom showed up with a big basket of goodies from my aunts for my new place. I got new sheets, a blanket, a comforter, new plates and glasses and a laundry hamper. Yay! When mom got here I tried to beg off until the next day but no…she talked me into going back to the old place and doing some cleaning anyway. We went to the store and got cleaning supplies and then went in and bagged the trash and hauled it out to the dumpster, we also boxed up all the small miscellaneous stuff that got missed in the big move. (Translation: 8 more trips up and down the stairs.) At the store I got a big bottle of ibuprofen and a plug for our tub, it was my plan to take some more ibuprofen and then soak in a hot bathtub. Lol, sure enough I forgot the stuff over at the old place. ~Sigh~ so I just had some fast food for dinner and went to bed early (well…early by my standards). We didn’t get anything done at the new place.
Monday the 31st: omg, omg, omg…..owie owie ow ow ow! I hurt and I’m crabby. I have a ton of boxes needing unpacking and despite my careful labeling I have no idea where anything is. I discovered some of mike and ambers stuff got put up here (and they later found stuff of mine down there) and I ran it downstairs. I was moving slow but the kitchen got unpacked and the living room furniture got shuffled into place. Mom showed up around 4 and we went over to the old place to scrub it down and empty the fridge into a box (somehow we had forgotten the contents of the fridge, lol) and haul it out. Finally it was done and it looked a damn sight better than most people leave them. I was the caretaker for over 10 years, no one left those apartments as clean as I left that one. Trust me. I went home, had some dinner and that soak I was wanting. We had a friend pop in around 11pm and I was awake at midnight to yell happy new year with my friends (I wasn’t sure that was going to happen, lol. I was pretty tired).
Tuesday the 1st: I spent the bulk of the day being a total slacker and trying to recover from all the running around I had been doing. Laid around on the couch watching TV, then went and got a couple of chairs for the kitchen table from Dan’s aunt sue and called my mom up and wished her a happy birthday and thanked her again for the help cleaning.
Another bath and I crashed early again.
Wednesday the 2nd: I was starting to feel human again and more unpacking got done. I got the pc all set up and ready, some pictures on the walls, books on the bookshelf…it’s starting to look more like my place. Had some food and watched the new die hard movie downstairs at mike and ambers.
Thursday (yesterday): the cable guy showed up and was fast, friendly and efficient. The minute the phone came online though it started ringing. I really didn’t miss the phone at all. Not even a little bit. I also wish I hadn’t told people it would be back on Thursday. For some reason everyone seems to think I should be completely done unpacking by now and ready to chat on the phone and have them over to see the new place. Lmao!!! In between the phone calls I popped in here to say hi and grab my dailies. I meant to update last night but it’s really been a zoo around here, especially with the phone working now.
But, bit-by-bit and piece-by-piece it’s coming together. I’m really loving my new apartment and neighborhood and so are my kittehs. The amount of space I have here is insane compared to my old place and I have lots of ideas for how I’m going to decorate it. My new landlords are awesome and say I can paint and decorate it however I want. Whee! I have no idea where my camera is at the moment so I can’t show you any pictures of the new place yet but as soon as I find it I’ll take a bunch and get a link posted. Until then Snufflypoo would like to thank the following people:

Just think tho how cool it's going to be once the dust settles and things can get back to normal.
Hang in there, once it all gets done you'll look back on the move and laugh over some of it.
Glad you had so much help, friends are a joy to have.
Hmmm maybe take them all out to an all you can eat buffet to say Thank You to them.
