Aila
Age:3,000
Race: Unknown
Powers: Immortality, can materialise in and out of a tree
Personality: At first glance she's calm, she's collect, tranquil, down to earth, and she seems benevolent, nurturing and maternal. But the longer you're around her the mor apparent it becomes, you see Aila might not be what you would qualify as "sane" she has a few traits that aren't quite normal.. See she is incredibly possessive, not so much over items but over people. She might seem shy and quite, and lurks in the shadows watching someone from a distance performing small tasks to help them, but the longer she watched them she grows more attached, and will hold them hostage, wanting to keep them forever. You see she's a very lonely person, never has she met any other beings besides Humans, and sadly enough Humans can't out live her. She's also been known to kill a person if they refuse to stay with her, mainly because if they die they, she thinks they can't leave her, but death takes them. It causes her great pain when this happens and she's been known to mourn a death for years, yet she never truly learns.
Bio:A long time ago, before Queen Elisabeth, before King Arthur and Merlin, even before Jesus walked the earth, there were plenty of small miracles occurring, created by deities. One of these miracles occurred around 3,000 years ago, when the Greeks were still going strong, before the Romans were even considering on concurring vast lands, and in fact were still a small tribe of people. This was a time when the gods enjoyed themselves, and had many worshipers, so they never had to hide their tracks, never had to hide the wonders that they created. This is the beginning of out story, and how Aila came into being.
Antheia, --one of Greeks less known— Goddess of Vegetation, Lowlands, Marshlands, Gardens, Blossoms, the Budding Earth, and Human Love. Had been bored the way that most gods of the time got, and decided to do something to at the very least amuse herself. Unlike most who would search for sex, or bother some poor mortal, tricking them into some strange love triangle, involving one of their relatives, she choose to something different, create child. Not be the way most do but a challenge of sorts. She retreated into a vast forest and found the largest tree possible; she poured magic into the tree, creating an idea. It took twenty days and twenty nights to create what she wanted. Nestled in the roots of the tree was a small newborn child, a baby girl, which looked as human as could be, but was actually from Antheia’s powers and the tree. She called the girl Aleris and raised her in that forest under that tree. Her creation Aleris grew up in a remarkable speed, she grew about a year a day, on the seventh day she appeared seven on the sixteenth day she appeared sixteen, but after that twentieth day she aged no more.
Aleris was a secret to everyone, all the mortals, almost all the gods except Antheia, she was all alone. She couldn’t call herself a human, for she wasn’t one, she couldn’t live with the gods for she wasn’t one either, nor was she a nymph. She was her own race, the only one. Lonely. When she wanted to die or grew old her body wouldn’t let her she was immortal like the gods, but without any type of power like the mortals. Now for awhile Antheia paid visits to her creation of boredom, but she soon grew bored of her, like a child gets bored with toys, so she simply left poor Aleris to herself, all alone with no companion of her own.
A blessing came to Aleris two small twins came to her, a boy and a girl both of the age of eight. Their faces, filthy covered in soot, dirt and grime. Their faces hardened knowing a hard life of starvation, and no love. Her heart cried out to them, her longing for someone to be with her wailed. She took the children in, cared for the loved them, fed them, washed them and watched them grow. She never left them leave her she always kept them by her side. Now that was all well ‘till they grew older, As humans go they both wanted to return to society, they had their hearts in the right place wanting to take Aleris with them, but she wouldn’t leave her safe haven of the forest. Eventually the girl agreed to stay, but the boy wanted to leave, still. It was a stab through Aleris’ heart he wanted to leave her? After she had taken care of him for years… She couldn’t let him leave. Her solution, the night before he was going to leave when both he and his sister were asleep, she killed him. Rolled a large boulder on top of him and blamed the cliff. Both Aleris and his sister mourned his death for days. (well Aleris for years.) But life went on and soon the girl died of old age leaving Aleris behind, never allowed to follow into death and cross the river Styx…
Aleris lived in solitude for years, until the roman invasion. By this time she had become known, not by name but by spirit many feared her knowing that she stole people for companions, some she killed, others turned into lovers, and others yet mere friends, but none were ever seen again. When the Romans came they too learned of her and she took up another name Aureila. Her ways never changed and she fell into a cycle, getting close to mortals but they never lasted long and always died, she would mourn their deaths and if you asked she could tell you about every single one… Time passed the cycle continued, pattern of obtaining a person, their death (whether it be by a natural cause or herself), and then she would mourn. Soon the Roman Empire fell. The forest burned down, and she found another. By this time medieval dark ages were occurring and she found herself with the Germanics and Gaelics, she soon adopted the name Aila, and has been known that ever since. Times change and she remains the same, staying in the forests were human technology doesn’t touch her, and always in search of a companion that won’t leave her.
