For the first time in about two disjoint years I feel like I'm actually playing the licks, and not getting licked by the guitar. I'm still a beginner in my eyes though, compared to the people I'm emulating. I'm starting to develop better technique, proper string bends, correct left-hand muting, correct picking/strumming. It's much easier to bend with three fingers and the strength of your hand/wrist than just the strength of the index or middle finger alone. I'm also diving further into my multi-effects pedal than ever before. I'm designing more accurate effects to match what songs should sound like. That and hours and hours of practice almost every night has been huge. I've been continuing to play Stairway, but who hasn't since the first time they picked up a guitar? New songs I'm slowly adding to my repertoire are Bulls on Parade, Can't Stop, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Black Dog, Over the Hills and Far Away, Since I've Been Lovin' You, Black Magic Woman, and a bunch of rockin' 3 chord ditties. wink I'm not sure I'd call any of them mastered, but I've made headway on every one, and I can make most of them sound like something. That's if I'm not playing along to an mp3 full speed. I've also been making myself perform for small (1-3 people) audiences of people who won't boo me off the internet, over Skype at albeit reduced sound quality. The reviews I've gotten from those have also helped to boost my confidence.
I'm on cloud 9. 3nodding
