My Daily Rants
For those who would like to view my thoughts and ideas.
CHAPTER ONE: An Oath to Revenge

A cry of anger filled the moonless sky.

The figure of a weeping boy crouched over his dying mother penetrated the dark. He was only seven, how was he to take care of himself? He didn't know how to hunt or fish, he only knew how to scavenge for berries. "Kenichi, go to the north. Find a man by the name of Mamoru Hiashi, he'll be able to tell you where your father is," the dying woman said, panting as the God of Death would soon come to take her soul.

"Mommy, please, don't go."

"Be strong my son. You are of a proud and noble race." The woman ignored the cries of her son and closed her eyes, drifting into the long dark sleep never to wake up again.

Kenichi stood up and looked down at the still woman. Tear stains streaked his face. On her side was a large splotch of crimson from a stab wound she had received from protecting him from the oncoming sword of a bandit. "I swear to you mom, I will avenge your death. Even if it takes me all my life to track down the man who killed you."

It took him thirty minutes to dig a grave for his mother's body. He said a quick prayer and headed north to find the man his mother spoke of.

Twelve Years Later

Tired dark brown eyes scanned the surrounding trees. Kenichi stood stock still, hiding his body behind a large redwood tree. "Very good Kenichi-kun. You've mastered the skill of hiding your presence, but what you lack is covering your tracks!"

SNAP

The nineteen year old looked up and shoved himself away from the tree as a large man came swooping down on him with a large broad sword. Kenichi skidded to a halt, kicking up dirt as he soon charged back towards the old graying man. Kunai flew out from his left sleeve and used his right hand to connect a punch to his opponents face.

Sweat poured down from his pores. "Hiashi-sama," he panted. "When do I get to use a sword?"

Hiashi, the graying man who had attacked him, stood up straight and looked at his student with humor in his stone gray eyes. "Not until you learn to use your head."
