There were three best friends who lived in a small town. They were best friends since childhood. Elliot, Kyle, and Mia. Elliot's father was the duke. Which gave him a higher status than both Mia, and Kyle. But that didn't stop them from being very good friends. Elliot and Mia were drawn to each other more and more. Kyle began to feel great jealousy. Then the wars began, and Elliot had to go off into battle. Death lies in wait for all warriors on the battle field. Elliot asked his best friends Kyle to take care of Mia if anything happened to him. " Of course I'll take care of her Elliot. I'll protect her no matter what happens" he replied.

After hearing his promise Elliot left. But as for Kyle, his own feelings for Mia drove him mad with jealousy, until he felt only hate for his former best friend. Even if Elliot and Mia lived happily ever after, he knew he would never be free of these feelings. So he went to the villages sacred artwork and protector, The secon hand of time. And he prayed for something evil. " Please take away Elliot's time! I know it's wrong ,but...I just can't let him have her! If he dies in battle, It will be a hero's death! And Mia... if only there were no Elliot,...maybe." he prayed. His wish was granted.

During the battle, Elliot was struck by an arrow...and killed. But the arrow didn't belong to an enemy, or an ally. Those who saw it said it looked like a giant iron spear, that looked like the second hand of a clock. When Mia heard of Elliot's death, she begged the Second Hand of Time to take her life instead. She prayed saying " Please give all my time to him." Kyle never considered that his beloved Mia, would give up her life for Elliot's sake. When Elliot restored to life by Mia's final wish, he returned to the town which had fallen to ruins. The towns people had all vanished. And Mia who had given her life to save his, was breathing her last. He shed many tears as he held her. " If my life is continuing by her light...then I will return it all back to her." he said. He took the sword the Mia had given him before he went off to war and thrusted it through his heart. But while the Second Hand of time could exchange time, it could not create more. It could not restart time that had stopped. Klye had left the town after what happened, he lived on cursed by fate, constantly falling into misfortune. Driven to madness he wrote this book Ice and Dark... and then killed himself. Those who use the second hand of time for evil, are controled by it. It wouldn't allow him to rest. He was forced to live with his regret and despair. Until he finally told the story and turned it into legend, only then was his time allowed to finally end.
