WOAH, hey, where am I?!?!
Me Cat story from 8th grade!(Well, the three that I made...)
Short Story Samantha McMullen (Cat story: I shall think of a name…) 10/5/06

The pigeon pecked the ground, looking for worms. A black tabby, with purple eyes, hidden within the trees, crouched lower. He prepared to pounce on the bird…
“Hey! What are ya doing?” The bright, thick haired, blue eyed, orange she-cat noisily ran through the debris of human food and dried leaves that had fallen from the trees up above.
The bird screeched and flew away, to let all other prey know of the danger that lay near. The black cat sighed, “Look what you did, Kiko.”
“You don’t need to catch birds, Neko. We get food in the depot and from the chauffeurs that are on their break.” She scolded.
“Yah, but their meat is cold.” Neko argued.
“It’s still good! Anyway, let us go watch the humans play their cro-shet.”
“That’s crochet. Besides, why do you want to watch? It is not as if you can suddenly can turn into a human and play with them! You’re a cat, just like me!”
“But it’s fun to see the way they play! Your tone of voice reminds me of how the elder humans, that wear those poofy blouses and strong perfume and do that cro-she, blather on to each other so negatively.”
“Croquet.” Neko corrected again.
“Whatever…” Kiko muttered.
Neko sighed, “Why can’t you stay with your own kin and leave me alone, kit.”
“Oh, come on! I’m SEVEN moons old!”
“You still act like an amateur cat, Kiko.”
“Well, you’ll see! I’ll join the elite cats and than you’ll respect me, all of you!” Kiko vowed.
“Not after I am a house cat, living in a suite!”
She grunted, “But you don’t want to be a house cat and the humans don’t you live in places like that.”
“Exactly.”
The two cats stood there in silence, staring at each other.
A brown and white cat came bounding in, ripping the silence away, “Neko, Kiko!” He called.
“Yes, what is it?” Neko asked, both of them turning to the young cat.
“You know that rouge, the white cat with yellow eyes, which used to be owned by a surgeon?” He panted.
“Yah?” Kiko cocked her head.
“You mean Ron?” Neko asked.
“Yes! He just- he…” The brown and white cat paused.
“Out with it!” Neko ordered.
“Neko, calm yourself!” Kiko barked at the cat that was only three moons older than her, “George, it’s okay. Say it slowly.”
“Ron… The elite… They let Ron coup them!” George exclaimed.
“WHAT?” Neko’s eyes widened.
“Quickly, we must get back to the plateau!” Kiko started running, “Ron is NOT a good cat! He has never been since I met him!” George and Neko gave a quick glance to each other, and then ran after Kiko.
The three cats ran through the park, known by all cats as the forest of Conko. It is surrounded by human life. The entire place was put under protection by the government to keep oxygen in the air and seemed completely untouched by pollution, except for the litter that was attempted to be picked up every week by some humans that wore orange suits. The entire area was about one hundred by one hundred acres.
The three cats ran past a matinee that lay close to Conko. After about ten minutes, the trio reached the plateau that was in the middle of the forest.
They reached there and saw the white pelt and red eyes of Ron, standing on the low rock that the leader of the elite announced to the rest of the cats that lived in Conko. The elite were like a government that controlled the rest of the cats, like humans, but instead of voting, the cats of the elite choose a strong cat to protect the rest of the cats.
Kiko, Neko, and George all sat next to each other, next to the rest of the cats that all huddled up to listen to the new leader.
“…And I have chosen that cats can choose to split up with each of the elite and choose which one will be their own leader, but I have chosen which cat will be with what leader and we will have no fighting among the choosing. The kits that still need their mothers, and shall stay with them. The ones that can get food and fight for themselves will probably be separated.”
Murmurings of disapproval started to flood over the cats.
Ron waited until the cats stopped meowing to each other and waited to listen to Ron, as they decided to let him do this new method, “Kerouku shall get Riki, Naiku,
Lomo, Sarom, Moonlight, Dorom, Oroki, Haku, Kikio, and George.” All ten cats got up and followed Kerouku to a section away from the huddled cats. Kiko and Neko stared at their friend as he moved away from them. “Leona shall have…” Kiko’s ear twitched as on the seventh cat that was called for “Neko…” Neko looked at Kiko for a moment, then nudged her affectionately and stalked away. Kiko felt embarrassed as the friend she had been with, and had a secret crush on, was now leaving her alone. Her mom had died when she was only three days old and humans had adopted her three brothers when they had been left outside in a box. She escaped the box, and was nursed by one of the she-cats that recently had kits, who all had died.
While Kiko went through her memories, Ron had gone through the other cat of the elite, Breken. She did not hear her name, and suspected to be with Ron’s group, and sure enough, she was the first one on his list.

The strong aroma from the catnip had overwhelmed Kiko. She rolled around the leaves that surrounded the labyrinth of bushes that led to one of the human’s houses. She was so melancholy, that she didn’t care for the cats that now surrounded her.
“Kiko!” Neko hissed to her.
“Oh, Neko! I’m almost done with my marathon!” She mewed.
“Kiko! You’re not supposed to be here!”
Kiko’s ear twitched in notice to the comment, “So, you don’t want me around you anymore!” She cried.
“Go back to Ron! He is not gonna like that you came here!” Neko meowed quietly.
“But I haven’t seen you in FIVE WHOLE MOONS!” Kiko complained loudly.
“Kiko! Hush or we’re all crowfood!” Tikutsa hissed.
“Kiko...” Neko padded over to her and grabbed her by the scruff.
“Well, well. It looks like one of my cats has gotten on your side. What an episode.” Ron padded out in a slow rhythm, “May I take her back, now?”
Leona’s ear twitched, “Ron. You know what happens to cats that go on other. . . ‘Territory’.” She padded out towards him.
“Leona, wait! Don’t hurt her!” Neko dropped her scruff and sat, fur starting to rise.
“Ron, I didn’t mean to! I-I just wanted to know how Nek-… everyone was doing.” Kiko regained her senses once away from the catnip.
“He can’t disobey his own laws, Kiko.” Leona said with a hint of a smirk.
“You’re correct, Leona, but you can just let us go, without a fight.” Ron said coolly.
“Sorry, but I’m not the kind of cat to be asking for heroes.” Leona unsheathed her claws.
“Ooh! A fight! I can’t wait!” Jenko crouched and waited for Leona’s command.
Ron crouched immediately for defense. Kiko lowered her head.
“A stadium.” Ron hissed.
“What?” Leona glared at Ron.
Ron sat up, “A physical stadium!” he exclaimed.
“That can’t be good.” Kiko muttered.
“Now that the pneumonia has passed, we can go to the stadium for fights!” He practically sang.
Neko licked Kiko’s ears then turned to see Ron glaring at him, but it was too fast for anyone else to see as he jumped up, “Leona, I will see you in the stadium.” He turned to walk away.
“Wait!” He turned his head, “I want to fight her.” Leona looked at Kiko.
“What!” Neko and Ron both exclaimed.
“Me? B-but I-“Kiko stammered.
“You can and you will. In two days, at sunset.” Leona spun and padded off, “Come.” She said. Neko, Jenko, and Tikutsa all followed their leader. Neko looked behind, to look at Kiko, and then walked away.
“By all gods…”Ron muttered to himself, looked at Kiko, then started walking, flicking his tail to follow. Kiko did so.

“By everyone’s philosophy, you’re gonna die against Leona.” Penko muttered to Kiko.
“I know…” Kiko meowed sadly.
“Do you want me to tell you the exact percent, in which you will live?”
“N-not really…” Kiko shuddered.
“Hmm… Those buildings do seem high today…” Penko looked up for help in what to say.

“But it’s not FAIR!” Kiko protested, “I-I don’t even know HOW to fight!”
Ron sighed, “But what about the trainers? Didn’t you let them undertake you?”
“Yes, but, I can’t possibly fight as well as LEONA! Not in two days!” Kiko argued, “Let us just put telegrams about my death on everything, already!”
“Kiko, you forgot about your speed. You’re much faster than Leona.”
“. . .When-“
“If.” Ron interrupted.
“IF I die, I don’t want one telegraph about how great Leona is better than me.” Kiko muttered.
“No, it’ll be international.” Leona passed the two bickering cats, entering the stadium.
“We’ll find provisions for that.” Neko came up, reassuring Kiko. He sat besides her.
“Either way, it’ll be profitable for me! Both of you cats have equal amounts of bets. I’ll have an interview with the winner,” said Lomo, the all-known gambler of kitty treats.
“Well, it’s about two minutes till sunset. We shall be underlying plans with the medicinal cats.” Ron said. He turned to Neko, “You should be getting in with the crowd.”
Neko ignored Ron and walked next to Kiko as the last three cats entered.
“Live and prosperity.” Penko muttered to Kiko, repeating a line from an old human show.
Neko sat next to Penko after giving Kiko a good luck lick on the ear. Penko showed Neko the telescopes he found, “So, it shows everything larger. Look!”
However, Kiko couldn’t pay attention to them. George came up, nodded to her, then went and sat with Neko and Penko. Ron glared at Neko, and then muttered to Kiko, “Remember your lessons.” He heartlessly nudged Kiko into the arena.
“Get ready to die!” Leona already ran to intercept with Kiko. Kiko dodged out of reaction and rolled underneath Leona. Kiko’s back legs attempted to run along Leona’s belly, but Leona got away before it could happen. Kiko jumped up and to the side away from Leona’s claws. Leona caught Kiko’s shoulder. Kiko growled in pain and ran to the other side of the arena, Leona on her tail.
“Why do we need to fight?” Kiko asked in fear.
Leona did not reply as she bit the turning Kiko’s tail. The intermediate cats that are only two moons old all meowed in sympathy for Kiko. ‘If this proceeds much longer . . .’ Kiko couldn’t think about such things.
