Painting black portraits
With charcoal and shades of grey.
So somber and sullen.
Black pens and dusty chalk
Smears into something
Unrecognizable, yet beautifully marred.
The shadows grow with each brush stroke
Staining darker and deeper.
Everything is a dull payne's grey
A funeral on paper.
Spider webs of ashy-white
Hold the broken scenes together
Frustrated, the colors bleed,
And it paints the canvas
Black.
