Ch 17: Merlin be Damned
Vincent launched an assault that met with little success as Michael’s had. “Dragon Arts: Ice!” Diamond yelled and launched a high pressured torrent of ice cold at Weapon Master. Not needing both arms to hold Vincent off, it began spinning the shadow chain rapidly causing it to deflect the water back to Diamond, sending her into the wall. It grabbed Vincent by his arm and threw him against Diamond. Michael and Izazu attempted to retrieve their weapons, Michael on the left and Izazu on the right of Weapon Master. Weapon Master caught Michael in the leg with its chain and swung him at Izazu, sending the two into Mer-Man’s trophy wall where their weapons were.
Mer-man was delighted to se his new investment paid off “Good, now finish them while I get the lord.” He commanded Weapon Master and scurried out of the room to safety. Weapon Master turned to the trophy wall when it heard a clank, Michael had pulled Nirvana to the floor and managed to stand up with it and the wall was empty save for two guns. Weapon Master thought little of this fact and swung its whip back, ready to finish Michael off.
A chain whip caught Weapon Master’s left arm just before he swung at Michael “Now!” Izazu yelled to Michael while keeping Weapon Master’s arm restrained.
“On it.” Michael responded and used the wall as a jump point, he swung Nirvana down on Weapon Master’s head “It’s Helm crusher b***h!” he yelled. It parried with the shadow Nirvana, which crumbled soon after clashing with the real Nirvana. “Iz, break the chain!” Michael yelled, figuring it out. With a good yank of his chain, Izazu shattered the Weapon Master’s shadow version.
Weapon Masters were originally created by a wizard who wanted a method of training elite knights, so he created a monster with immense strength and mastery over what ever weapon it held. Hoping to prevent it from becoming a war machine, the wizard made it so the shadow weapons would shatter on contact with the original weapons. However, one day the king demanded the wizard mass produced them on the threat of execution. Knowing the king would get another wizard to make them if he refused, the wizard used a forbidden ritual to cast all his documents and books along with the monster to hell at the cost of his soul. As a final act, he threw the blade he used into the lake and summoned a water nymph to guard it. Weapon Masters were used as hell’s brutal enforcers ever since.
Now unarmed, the weapon master summoned two shadow guns and began firing at the group. Izazu thought quick and began spinning his chain like when Weapon Master had , his chain caught the bullets in a vortex and shot them back at Weapon Master. It managed to avoid the bullets by jumping to the side but got caught in Vincent’s plan “Hey!” Vincent yelled, getting its attention and punched it through the door with a charged punched. The weapon master flew into the freezing cold water and Diamond was close behind, her Draconian armor forming on her body as she dove in.
Diamond kicked it in its mid section and summoned a ice spear, she impaled Weapon Master through the head “Score.” she grinned. The weapon master went limp and dissolved into shadows, leaving behind a multi colored glowing orb. Diamond grabbed it and brought it to the surface.
“Shiny.” Izazu said happily, he noticed Michael walking by “I’ll clean up here.” he excused himself, not wanting to get into another fight.
“Shiny.” Michael responded with a smile and walked off to find Mer-Man, he had gotten his guns off the wall. On a side note, shiny was a word from Michael’s high school days which he used instead of words like good (When he felt like it.)
Beelzebub half listened to Mer-Man “If it is true, rest assured that you will have two full legions of hell under your command.” he promised Mer-Man with a patronizing tone.
“I assure you lord,” Mer-Man spoke, so blinded by his hubris that he didn’t pick up Beelzebub’s disdain “They never had a chance.” he had contacted Beelzebub through an eyegoyle statue in his chambers.
A smile spread across Beelzebub’s thin lips as he saw the door behind Mer-Man open “Good bye.” he told Mer-Man and laughed a little, he knew the punch line to Mer-Man’s sad joke of a life, and how Beelzebub hated to ruin jokes when they were so close to ending.
Michael came in just in time to see Mer-Man end the conversation. He brought up one of his guns and aimed it, with a pull of the trigger, he put a hole between Mer-Man’s eyes “Bull’s eye.” he put the gun back in its holster. Michael pressed the statue’s eye, it turned to a clear view of an elegant room. A person with a noble’s cape and long, pitch black hair stood over a table with their back to the statue “Hey, Lady!” Michael called to get their attention.
The figure turned around “I’m a man.” he said dryly, cradling a wine glass filled with red wine in his palm, the stem fell between his middle and ring finger.
“Sorry.” Michael laughed a little “You just look like a girl.” he explained.
“It happens.” the man blew a strand of his hair away from his pale face “Now demon hunter, don’t let me see you again.” with that, the screen turned back into an eye. Michael thought about what happened and then went back to the group.
While Michael was chatting with the man, the others were trying to find a use for the orb that Weapon Master had left behind. Vincent figured it out when he inserted it into the crystal, it opened and the woman fell out and hit the ground “********!” she cried “I think a sprained my a**.” she swore.
“Are you okay?” Izazu asked her.
“Well, I was locked in a ******** crystal and I was just dropped on my a**. Yeah, I’m just ******** peachy.” She didn’t spare on the hostility of her words and tone.
“Geez,” Izazu sighed.
When everything got sorted out, it turned out that she was the Water Nymph’s queen and they were imprisoned by the Mer clan. Michael sealed the portal by using Leviathan’s form, which turned Nirvana into a snake sword. The group left envy and they were greeted by the Water Nymphs. “Hello.” Vincent said plainly.
The queen stepped forward “Thank you for saving us.” she was much more cordial around her subjects “Though sacred, I could bare to part with a few of our treasures.” she smiled a little and held up Vincent’s katana “Hold on to this, next time someone may not pick.” she charged it with magic and gave it to him “You now fight with the blessing of my people, as we blessed Excalibur.” she told him.
“Wait.” Izazu piped up “I thought Merlin did the whole Excalibur thing.”
“Yeah, bull s**t.” she rolled her eyes “The English just couldn’t handle the idea of a woman choosing their king.” she dismissed Merlin totally. Vincent held his sword fondly but remembered he lost his sheath also “Whoops.” she laughed and handed him an aqua blue sheath with the seal of the Water Nymphs on it.
“Thank you.” Vincent bowed and then secured it to his waist.
“Demon hunter, here is the Blessing of the Lake.” she gave Michael a beautiful sapphire on a necklace “Alone it is but a charm, but with The King’s Fate its power will aid you greatly.” she told him, Michael nodded in thanks and put it around his neck. The Queen turned to Diamond “For you, the seal of Artemis.” she gave Diamond a disk with a place for an emblem “The path to the emblem will be one of great trial and greater rewards.” she said and turned away from the group.
“What about me?” Izazu asked her, he thought he did a pretty big part.
The Queen paused “I did not forget about you.” she lied through her teeth, she completely forgot about Izazu. She produced a pair of dark claws “Here.” she shoved them off on Izazu, not knowing what they were.
“Score.” he grinned and strapped them on, he put the chain back into his back pocket.
The queen created a path up to where they were before coming into the caverns “You can just call me Gwen.” she told them and left with the other water Nymphs.
