Chapter 2- School
I opened my eyes waking up, in my surprise I was lying down on my sleeping bag cuddling on my stuffed kitten. I checked my watch, it was still early. I looked at everyone. They were all asleep. Not one awake, so I was alone right now. I stayed on my sleeping bag. I decided to wait for the others. I held my necklace, it wasn’t a dream. I was glad about that. I won’t tell the others about it; it’ll be just between me and Riku. I lay there waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. I checked my watch again a few minutes already past. I looked around, no one yet. I sighed and slammed myself back down.
“Good morning.” I heard a sleepy and muffled voice say.
I turned around and saw Riku lying on his sleeping bag. Half of his face flat on the pillow. He just woke up probably seconds ago.
“Good morning.” I whisper back to him and smiled.
We heard Kairi moan then get up, so I got up too. So did Riku, soon after everyone was up. We smiled at each other; some of us still wore sleepy faces.
“Hey!” we heard a guy’s voice call, he had an accent. It was Wakka, obvious enough. He was running towards us, holding a blitzball ball. Tidus was running along with him waving at us.
“So what’s our plan for today?” Selphie asked as everyone gathered together.

And that day went along something like yesterday. Though of course, we weren’t able to sleep under the stars again. Blame school. Oh no, we had school tomorrow again. I can’t stand school, it’s so annoying. I don’t get why we need to learn so much. The good thing is I still get to stay with my friends. Except there’s Yoanna and Vicky. The two most spoiled brats I’ve ever met. Judging people on how they look, teasing you with such harsh words that hurt you feelings. Also, they have materialism. They only like you for this certain whatever. It’s truly annoying and the two are right in front of me. I’m at the back most part of the classroom, sitting next to Selphie. Kairi sits with Sora. Riku sits beside the top of our class, which annoys him. Tidus and Wakka got stuck in another class, sadly. We can meet in recess and lunch and that’s good enough. That Sunday night I packed my stuff for tomorrow. The dreadful tomorrow.
I’m always teased by Yoanna and Vicky, just because I don’t know myself too well and I’m not like the average kinds of girls, or rather not like them. Also because my hair’s practically the same as Riku’s, and Riku being a boy. They dislike me because I’m not girly. I have to agree though, I really am not that girly. You can’t blame me for that, this is who I am. You just have to get used to it and live with it. I never actually told them anything like that. I haven’t stood up for myself or anything. Oh and one more thing, they give everyone they dislike nicknames. I’m called demon kid. It’s actually very insulting. I never tried to hurt anyone, never in my life. I think. They call me that because I’m the only one with bright red eyes like those demons and monsters you can see in cartoon shows or anime shows. They tell this to me ‘you seem shy, but your just examining your prey aren’t you?’ then they laugh and walk away. It’s really annoying. Even though I never tried to hurt anybody sometimes I just want to whack Yoanna and Vicky’s heads off. I’ll really be a demon kid, but I’ll also be a hero. Saving everyone from they’re evil taunts and teases. I’ll be the hero. I’ll save the batch. ………… My head’s going nutty, thinking about all these fantasies. As if. That won’t ever happen. It’s beyond the human limit. I should stop and go to bed now.
“Good night, Kairi.” I tell her.
“Yeah… good night.” She replies sleepily. We both fell asleep, ready for the dreadful tomorrow.

“Sharix, sharix! Wake up, you lazy bum!” Kairi said, she usually uses the ‘lazy bum’ phrase when waking someone up. She was shaking me, so I did wake up. “Get dressed for school already.” Kairi added.
I nodded and jumped out of bed, not bothering to use the ladder anymore. I grabbed my clothes and went to the bathroom. I took a nice cool shower then went out all dressed in my school uniform. It was a plaid blue and white skirt above my knees, a white tank top with a collar, and a neck tie that matches with my skirt, with black shoes and long indigo socks that reaches all the way up before my knees. I like it actually. Kairi was already downstairs eating breakfast. I got my bag and went down, I sat down on my chair eating my breakfast: Bacon and Egg, good enough. I ate it up quickly and so did Kairi. We went out and met up with the others. We all went to school together, riding on the boat going to the city. We got off the boat and walked to school, arriving in our classrooms. I unpacked my stuff and then placed my bag neatly on the shelf. And guess what? When I turned around Yoanna and Vicky were standing in front of me, ready to ruin my day.
“Well, well. Lookie over here, it’s the demon kid.” Yoanna said, flipping her long wavy blond hair.
“Yeah, what is she going to do now? Have her own bloody feast, wait. Maybe you already did. Who is it this time?” Vicky said, her long brown locks braided into buns, also emphasizing on the ‘this time; part of her sentence.
“Shut up…” I said, walking past them and to my seat.
“Oh… what are you going to do now demon?” Vicky said, emphasizing the word ‘demon’.
I ignored them, but they just wouldn’t stop.
“Oh my, I think we made her angry Vicky… I’m so scared.” Yoanna said sarcastically, acting scared.
“Oh no, me too… I wouldn’t want to die now.” Vicky said acting too.
“Mind your own business.” Selphie suddenly said, defending me.
“Shut up. Go grab your skipping rope and skip all the way around the world if you have to.” Vicky said in a mean tone.
Selphie was just about to say something back, but the teacher came in and everyone rushed to their seats.
Our teacher placed her things on the desk, she looked at us. We looked at her, completely silent. She sighed tiredly, and then she smiled at us.
“Good morning class!” she said happily.
We all stood up bowing. “Good morning Teacher Maebelle!” we all said in unison, and then quietly sat down. The school day finally started, carrying on with all the lessons.
Teacher Maebelle’s not your ordinary teacher that you’d run into any time of the day. She wasn’t strict, unlike some of the other teachers. She didn’t wear old, boring teachers’ clothes. She didn’t let us stand outside or give us long lectures when you’d get in trouble, Instead, she’s just talk to ya and then let you off shortly after – just like that. She’s actually like us, like a kid: always wanting to have fun, understanding our points of view. She’s the youngest and most beautiful teacher I’ve ever seen too. Maebelle’s got dark, wavy, brown hair that reaches all the way down above her waist. She’s got emerald green eyes, fair skin, and a cute line of freckles. Her hair’s usually down with some strands braided. She really was beautiful.

The day continued: lessons, lessons, lessons… A bell finally rung.
Maebelle stopped the lesson. “All right, recess everyone.” She announced happily.
We all went outside. We met up with Tidus and Wakka, and then we hurried to the canteen already munching on some of our snacks. Once we were done, we headed to the playground. I tried my best to avoid Yoanna and Vicky. I hung around on the monkey bars, swinging my self like a gymnast.
“You should really try out for the gymnastics team, Sharix.” Said Kairi who was sitting on the top of the big slide ready to slide down.
I shook my head, still hanging. “It’ll take up my time of spending time with you all. It will also be expensive, so I’d rather not.” I explain, finally letting go.
“Well, I guess you have a point there.” Selphie said as she played with her skipping rope.
I nodded and looked around. Riku and the others were busy playing tag, so us girls decided not to bother them.
Then, the bell rang again. We walked back to the classroom, I bumped into Yoanna and Vicky.
“Watch it ki-! Oh, its demon kid, use those deadly, blood red eyes of yours to bump into us.” Yoanna said, and then entered the classroom. Vicky stuck out her pink, pointed tongue at me and followed Yoanna in.
I looked down sighing.
Riku placed his hand gently on my shoulder and smiled at me. I smiled and together we went in, parting as I sat down beside Selphie. She looked at me, worried.
“You should really show Vicky and Yoanna what your made of Sharix. Tell ‘em whose boss.” She whispers.
I shrugged. “Maybe… I dunno… “ I whispered back, then we both listened to Teacher Maebelle and her lesson. Lunch carried on normally. We ate our lunches and went to the playground to play. It was a good lunch time. I didn’t bump into Vicky and Yoanna, we all played tag together and my lunch was simply delicious! We heard a bell again and hurried up to our classroom. I arrived long before Yoanna and Vicky did. Which was good, cause they didn’t get to tease me or anything. Well, not until dismissal time…
I was packing up my stuff, double checking everything. I got everything packed and Selphie did too. We tucked in our chairs and waited outside for the others.
Guess what. Vicky and Yoanna were already there, waiting for someone to pick on. Waiting for me.
“Demon kid.” They called me.
I turned to them, with annoyance in my red eyes.
They smirked. “What’s with the face, Demon?” Vicky said.
“Yeah, what’cha going to do now?” Yoanna added.
“Oh shut your mouth you two.” Selphie said bravely.
“Didn’t I tell you to skip all the way outta here?” Vicky said, annoyed by Selphie.
“Here let me help you.” Yoanna offers, she cut Selphie’s skipping rope in half with her big, sharp scissors.
Selphie just stood there and looked at her poor skipping rope.
I stood in front of Selphie and looked at Yoanna in the eyes, glaring at her.
“Leave us alone would ya?” I said, still glaring at her.
“So your going to blow up now, huh?” Yoanna said.
“You really are a demon! Examining your prey like that…” Vicky added, joining her friend.
“Come on Selphie.” I said grabbing her wrists walking away.
“Hey demon kid, why don’t you tell us more about yourself. You’re so mysterious!” Yoanna said suddenly. This made me stop cold on my tracks.
“Yeah, like where do you come from? Who are you parents?” Vicky said, and then gasped. “They’re dead aren’t they?! Did you kill them? Did they abandon you because you were a demon?!”
I bit my lip. Ever since I arrived in Destiny Islands, I couldn’t remember anything. I forgot my past, an important part of my life. I don’t know anything about myself other than the things I know and learnt from Destiny Islands. I don’t know anything at all, I wish I did but I don’t.
I felt someone grab my free hand, it was Riku pulling me away from the two. Wakka, Tidus, Sora and Kairi followed behind us. We continued to walk. Selphie and I were completely silent. Everyone was, it felt awkward. We road the boat and reached Destiny islands, we went straight to our houses,
I climbed up my bed, leaving my bag on the floor. I sat down by the corner and hugged my knees, burying my face into them.
I just knew Kairi was staring at me, I felt her climb up my bed. She gave me a hug. I gave her one back. I couldn’t stop thinking about my past, I didn’t get myself. Kairi released and smiled at me and went down to her own bed. she did cheer me up, but the thought of my past still wouldn’t get out of my head. I blame those stupid, spoiled brats: Yoanna and Vicky. I blame they’re nosy questions and stupid childish acts. I blame myself for what I’ve gotten into. Most of all this happened because of school Arg. I blame my stupid, stupid school. It’s like a big monster ready to gobble ya up and ruin your day once you get in. And when you’re in, there are little parasites
That ruins ya more. School’s stupid. I hate it.
