Dare-mo-shinjinai (Trust No Man)
“You promised me… You promised me no matter what they did,” she sobbed into her hands, “or what they said… you wouldn’t leave me. You promised me! Doesn’t that mean anything to you?!”

He paused, his hand hung in mid air ready to grasp the door handle. He knew if he walked out this door the chances of him coming back, the chances of her letting him back in, were slim to none. He didn’t turn to look at her, just stood there staring at the skillfully carved and painted door. It reminded him very much of the sobbing women behind him. So beautiful, yet it was a cold beauty that ate away at your soul, sucking you in, telling you the lies you want to hear but never once has it told anything true. This door was the gate way to something more horrible then humans could ever image, but that’s not why he hated this door. No, he hated it because he couldn’t see through the lies. He gripped the elegant door handle tightly wishing the door could feel the pain he was trying to induce on it, feel the anger he felt towards this woman holding him back with her tears and this door for being in the way.

Then all at once as if the door was sucking him in again he felt all his anger drowned away into guilt. He wasn’t lying when he told her he loved her. No, he loved her more then the world he was born in. It stung to find out his love wasn’t for the woman standing behind him but for a fake image she had put up. This woman even though it wasn’t the one he loved so much… she had the face of his lover, and he couldn’t stand to see his lover cry.

“I just need some time to think,” He grounded out, yanking open the door. He stepped out into the cool air, and, for once, he felt a little freer. He didn’t have to worry about anything other then himself. He wasn’t worried about whether or not that woman would destroy his mood, even if it was a negative one. He could finally feel something other then that cramped up emotion that always left he feeling empty, lonely, and depressed at the end of the day. Finally, he could breathe again.
