Forever Is A Lie
The things I could never forget,
The things I've never memorized,
The way your smile brightened my day,
The twinkle in your eyes.
The way you laughed and teased,
While I was caught up in your lies.
The promises you passed over,
Like kisses on my cheek,
And then you went and broke them all,
And left me there to weep.
The part that still hurts me most
Is the part that you never loved me.
So go ahead, and pack your bags,
Leave me sitting in the dirt,
Remember all the pain you caused,
The trouble and the hurt.
And as your getting in the car, I hear,
"Sorry that it didn't work!"
Your memory rips at my heart,
The heart you locked and stole the key,
Now I know forever is a lie,
As I get back to my feet.
I force myself into the house,
And brush you from my cheeks.
