So these three little fishermen decide to go fishing in a wooden shoe. Why they would do that is beyond me, but the did. The shoe, instead of taking them into the water, like most shoes do, takes them into the sky where they are stopped by the moon who demands to know what they're doing off the earth in a flying (sailing?) wooden shoe. They tell the moon that they're just looking for heiring fish that live in the sky, and by that they mean they've come to catch stars in nets of silver and gold. The moon wishes them good luck and speeds them on their way with a song. One star pokes it's head out of the sky and announces to the three little fishermen that they can fish as much as they'd like, but they won't catch anything. So the three little fishermen do just that. All night long they cast their nets into the twinkling foam, but they don't catch anything. When the sun begins to rise, the wooden shoe sails out of the sky and they go back home where no one beleive them.
A random childhood memory that I've been dwelling on for a while. It's odd what you remember after fifteen years. Some day I'll take time and write out the whole peom, but for now all I remember is the main points.
