Chapter 8
......I finally hear something from the abyss, for what seemed like an eternity... But that is all, I can only hear...I cannot see or feel but wait...feel...there is a faint sensation...far away. A faint smell too...cool moist, I try and open my eyes but I cannot control them, they do not obey me. I lie there for a while so still, then I try again...my left eye is all that I can open...and only partially. I try and move but it feels as if my bones have all been broken to pieces...what is wrong with me??
I hear what seems to be a scream...but is it my scream? Was it the scream I tried to make earlier but had never come? The memory of 'it' hits me. The digging...the burning...I fall back into the abyss...
----------------------------------------
the heat...the cold...the burning...the silence...
hands twitch as a breeze flies over them. Slowly the figure arises, legs are somewhat shakey but they are strong. Arms hang by his side limply, his face slowly rises up from the softness of the moist ground. His eyes are closed, hair tangled in chaos. At first he stands with his head down like a zombie risen from the grave. After another breeze whispers by, he finally stands up straight, like a soldier awaiting orders...
"Kusanar'a Zelsatsu...Kusanar'a Zelsatsu..."I cringe to the voice in my mind. It is not the word's itself but the voice that sounds so familiar...I am afraid of it. I try and run...to block it out...nothing seems to work...nothing works at all...I have lost all control.
He feels it too...another presence that hears it too. He traces this feeling and determines where it is coming from. He turns himself in that direction. And finally opens his eyes. What used to be black is now a jade green. Looking up he sees that it is dark, in a town apparently surrounded by forest. Many small houses, but the biggest one is the one he is facing...it is there...definitely in there...he starts to approach it
I feel a movement but I do not know what it is. I try to stop myself, to raise out my hands...maybe I have become blind. Yet nothing I do works...I hear the voice again..."nothingness" it says to me. "Fire is life, ice is silence, but death is truly the nothingness" I try and block it out, it can't be true...it can't...
-----------------------------------------
...nothingness...
He reaches the line of trees right near the "village" and stops noticing the strange activity of some of the townspeople. They are searching for something... He partially hides himself behind a tree but notices some movement in the 'hut' he was originally approaching. Still hiding behind the tree he sees two figures come out of the tent. The first draped in a robe, the second smaller and shorter. By the looks of them...they look like...elves. He looks around again and comes to the conclusion he is in a village of elves. "...How interesting..." he thinks to himself. "But those two seem more interesting at the moment..."
...coldness...
The two seem to be discussing something but only nod towards each other and started to wander away from the village into the forest. He jumps up into the trees and follows them through the branches, being careful to only move when the wind blows, and only be farthest away as possible but still be able to hear them...
...silence...
------------------------------------------
From the trees he looks down at the two with his now Jade green eyes and listens in as the two converse, or rather the smaller one doing all the talking... His eyes seem to shimmer slightly at the little one's words...'attacks'... 'state of chaos'...
Such events have occurred elsewhere...yet this elf here...the smaller one in the robe, seems to show a strange level of ignorance to them.
He hears some noise and turns to find another elf approaching and joining the group, and yet a little farther off yet another. "Interesting..." he thinks to himself and slightly smirks to himself at how big the group was starting to grow. He looks back towards the first two elves...their names were Arius and Kirkis he had heard them say...and sees them notice the other elves approaching as well...
But then he feels a strange 'presence' near the one in the robe, Kirkis. A black silhouette flashes upon his hand.
from a memory locked in his other's consciousness he hears
".......Kusanar'a Zelsatsu.....?"
He is much too far within the trees to see clearly but he definitely felt it's 'presence'.....
-------------------------------
After a very brief murmuring among all 4 elves the robed elf walks off and the group starts to disperse...or rather walk off along with him. The smaller elf pauses for a second and turns his gaze up towards the trees. He mutters out to the darkness without fear "Show yourself eavesdropper"
there is a moment of eerie silence as Arius stares up into the trees...finally there is a rustle among the leaves and a dark silhouette appears among them. It moves, and there is more rustling. It jumps into the air and lands a bit a ways from the spot the group was standing at.
He lands on one foot with his hands in his pockets. Standing on it perfectly balanced for few seconds then finally planting both of his feet on the ground. He raises his gaze to look at the little elf and smirks. "You're more than you seem puny one"
The way he says it...his words hang in the air...his face changes back to an expressionless stare. His jade green eyes shining from the reflection of the fires back behind...but yet they are locked on...onto the little elf.
---------------------------------
He turns in the direction of the group amusingly as they continue to follow the robed elf with no regards to Arius, the little elf. Arius lets a sigh and walks off too. Leaving him standing by himself.
He can't help but smile at the little elf. As caring and thoughtful as he seemed in the conversation...Arius was ignored.
He starts to turn back into the forest to disappear but he couldn't help but think about what Arius had said. "attacks...state of chaos" Apparently...the little elf had seen interesting things...and more seemed to head his way.
Out of pure boredom, he goes back into the shadows of the forest but he heads in the direction Arius has gone...keeping him in his sights...
----------------------------
He follows Arius into the now burning village. He takes a moment to watch the fire and the chaos...and the fighting...something had attacked the newly constructed village while the little group was off talking in the forest...that's what the 2 elves that joined the group late were reporting. It was unclear what attacked them, but the bright flames were a spectacle of enjoyment for him no less.
Suddenly he hears someone talking in the distance...he would never have noticed if the name "Narase" did not catch his attention. Out of the corner of his eyes he notices some others approaching... Humans, not elves but humans...
He looks at them curiously...then notices them looking back with frightened looks on the faces. One of them...the male withdraws a sword and aims it at him...yelling "So you're one of them, you won't fool me!!!!"
He smirks at the child and points at himself...replying back in a odd tone "You know him?"
----------------------------
If it's a fight the human wants...then it is what he shall get...
He calls out his staff and pulls out his sword...ready to do his most masterful technique. One that has taken years to learn and perfect but it's deadliness paying off the effort.
Suddenly he hears the little elf, Arius, give out a yell..."Stop!"
He sees Arius running towards them from a distance but continues to ignore him. As the human boy draws closer a fog comes in between the stand-off and everything is enshrouded by it.
He frowns in disappointment and turns to realize that Arius has released the spell and was the cause of the fog. He becomes enraged that a puny elf would dare destroy the pleasure of releasing his powerful technique.
In a burst of anger He swipes his blade out towards Arius...
blood flying through the air...the red matching with his dark green eyes.
----------------------------------------
He enjoys the moment and feels his rage leak out through the blade and blood...but no sooner did he put his guard down he notices the elf chanting something...an unfamiliar unique spell.
Before he knows it...he is hit by the strange spell...there is a strange sense of coldness within him...He drops his weapons and falls to his knees, holds himself tightly, shuts his eyes, grasping on to himself... the burning returns...digging...moving within his body, suddenly the feeling explodes and the coldness completely dominates...
Narase's eyes open from the shock. He screams again but once again there is no sound...finally his body slowly falls and he lands softly on the ground. His eyes shut again once more...
"...you are more than you seem...puny one..."
