Whisper of Fangs in the Night
The full moon rose in the sky and howls and screeches echoed across the night air, whistling through an old abandoned church. An ancient, crumbling altar shook and a ring of candles sprung into flame. The black flames gave the place an unholy glow that suited the only resident besides the animals. The altar slid open revealing a makeshift tomb hiding a black wooden casket. The wood groaned as the lid opened revealing a young man in his twenties. His face was the shade of milk, pale and slightly subdued,as if the natural glow of life had been drained from his face. He opened dark black eyes scanning the area and he rose out of the coffin and stretched. The night shone in his eyes as he straightened his clothes and fit his white blonde hair in a tight ponytail. His eyes held dark rims around them like a permanant eye shadow, giving them an exotic and evil look to them. His black pitted eyes slowly lightened and swirled into a startling glacier blue. He smiled to himself as the deep sleep started to fade,to be replaced by a gnawing hunger that radiated through his entire body. His white teeth gleamed as the long fanged canines slowly shrunk to normal size, though still pointed. He stood at about six foot two, with a lean body of thick steel like muscles, bulging slightly from his stretching earlier. He had a body built for a predator, not an ounce of unneeded weight could be seen on his frame, which put him roughly in the hundred and sixty pound range. His iron-rich diet kept him from needing to excersize,he only would gain weight when he consumed mortal food, which he did only rarely. The blood pumping through his veins kept him alive and that was all he needed. Though right now that blood was feeling old and clotted in his system, like milk slowly turning into cheese. It made him feel slighty sick to his stomach and he felt his head spinning. He immediatly turned to the bed that held his victim from last night,a small girl of maybe fourteen, the only sign of her attacker were the two puncture marks on the side of her neck and her slightly blue lips. He cursed harshly, she must have died from the shock of his attack,he didn't take much blood only enough to flush out his system. Usually he would hold a target for three or four days before releasing them. He would need a new victim before the night was over. He quickly headed for his wardrobe and selected a black pair of pants and a silver belt with skulls aligned through the leather. His top was a sleeveless vest aligned with silver buckles along the middle, fastening it tight against his slighty broad chest. His boots and forearm high gloves matched the rest of the somber outfit. He swept the red cape along his shoulders and clasped it around his neck. He had a passion for the dramatic and his appearance and ensamble proved it. He strode the bed and sank his teeth into the previous wound,to check the blood's quality. He immediatly removed his fangs and spat the blood onto the floor,it had the taste rancid meat and was thick and globular,a nasty splat sounded when it hit the floor. Squeaking laughter could be heard from the rooftop of the church and the vampire raised his head to it and sneered. "Ras get down here now!" Ras,or Rasputin as his full name was,was a large black bat with beady, intelligent eyes though they also held a glint of mischief. "You called?"
"Yes I did you winged rat. Did I happen to hear a certain vampire bat by the name of Rasputin, laughing at his owner?"
The bat shook it's head, though it's many fanged teeth glinted in the light. "Of course not sir,how could Ras be so disrespectful?...Though I have to say the look on your face was priceless,it amuses me when you test old blood sir.
The vampire grinned and took hold of the bat's neck, squeezing enough for the creature's eyes to begin popping out of it's head. "I do believe you owe me an apology Ras." One of his claw like finger nails scratched threateningly against the bat's jugular, and the bat's eyes widened like tea saucers. "Yes, Lord Nowe,Rasputin is sorry for laughing at you." The bat drew a deep breath as the hand removed itself from his throat.
