Strength. An eight letter word that has infinite meanings. It refers to someone well adapted to something mentally or physically. You know, the person who can bench over two hundred pounds or the woman who picked up a car to get to her child. It comes in so many forms and so many ideals but it's very often associated with physical traits. What about mentally?
I met a guy a few days ago whose mother died early on in his life. He's strong.
I know about a girl who went on living even when she lost all hope. She's strong.
I heard a rumor about a family whose little boy died in a drive by. They're strong.
Strength comes in so many faces, it's almost invisible unless you look for it. The little girl down the street, the face in the mirror and yes, even the weight lifter who can bench over 200lbs no problem. A lot of times people call me strong. I don't think they're right. I'm no stronger than that little girl that kept living, nor am I stronger than that family who kept smiling even when death took one of them. I'm definitally not stronger than that boy, that guy whose mother is dead and yet he still is one of the greatest guys you'll ever meet. I just hope that some day I can be as strong as they are. All of them.
