Day 2
Ksshh........
Nothing, just static.
"You've GOT to be kidding me." Joyce groaned. "We can't be the ONLY two people left on the planet."
"Keep your voice down!" I whispered more harshly than I intended to and the girl who was both my classmate and friend immediately shut her mouth.
She even looked a little hurt.
"We might not be the only ones here." These were all the words I could offer in comfort.
"I'm sorry." She said finally after leaving at least a minute of radio static between us. "I just haven't seen anyone in ages. I... I lost Emily a while back... I don't know if she made it. But..." she choked on the last word and had to stifle a sob.
I patted her back for a good five minutes before she could speak normally again. What she had to say, however, did nothing for either of our moods.
"I'm scared."

Supplies were running low. Both of us knew we couldn't stay in my basement for much longer. However, it wasn't until we started hearing sounds coming from the first floor that we started even considering it.
"s**t." Joyce whispered under her breath. "We missed one."
I could only nod.
"Let's get rid of it before we have lunch. I don't want to throw up after we're done."
I nodded again.
