I saw Joyce lock her gun and I did the same. Danger levels were now near its max.
James paused before brushing past the branches of the tree with about as much sound as a breath of wind. Joyce had quickly slipped in also through the small space he had made. I was now left on the other side. If something was wrong, there would be gunshots and I would charge through to save them, with only 5 bullets left and five extra cartridges in my pants pockets. If they found a survivor...I would've sensed another person's presence ages ago.
It was then that I realized exactly how quiet the forest was, like before when we were lying back on our grassy beds. Even the smell had not deterred the silence that filled the place, although it was now a different kind of silence. It was one of anticipation and dread.
When are they ever going to-
"OH MY GOD!!!!"
