Chapter 11
“Puppy, do you want to fly?” Puppy had decided that he was comfortable with me. “Can we track the other angel?” he barked. I grinned widely. “SO CUTE♥♥!” I spread out my wings and rose into the air, terrifying Puppy. I stroked the hyena’s fur, sending calming waves into his fur. “Hush now, my Pup.” I breathed softly. His eyes glazed over and soon sleep came to him. I flew steadily until I saw the dawn sky. I lowered myself to the treetops, scanning for wings, until I saw a girl run for her life. She was wearing a brown tunic with long sleeves hanging loosely around her arms. Amber beads had been braided into her long auburn hair, matching the amber pendent hanging from her neck. As the sun rose, tan wings leapt from her back. She gained speed and swung into the air. I kept out of sight, wondering if she was the angel in the hyenas’ minds. The girl awkwardly turned mid-flight as if she had remembered something and landed clumsily to the ground. Two people came out of a house, looking worried. The girl clung to the boy as if they had lost their child. The boy searched the sky, probably for the angel.
