Oh and, I'm really busy this year, I'll put something at the end of this as to why I'm so busy. ^w^
These two giant things are flies, you can tell because they have only one pair of wings, their other pairs have been modified (over time, yes evolution) into things called halters that act as gyroscope like mechanisms to help them when they fly. That's why they're so hard to swat =.=
They're also quite huge ._. It's frightening when they BUZZ passed your head, and they're loud too almost more like vicious humming.
I think that's the one they were saying was a robber fly, they bite, and it hurts...
Um, so I stuck them in a "Killing jar"that has Ethyl Acetate in it so they die before I stick them with needles (The vapor is what poisons them). You know me, I can't kill things that easily XD I cried trying to pin a beetle because it wasn't in for long enough apparently and started squirming AFTER the needle was through I looked pretty pathetic XD

There were a lot of orb spiders on this trip. We went up to Bruneau sand dunes.
He only wants critters from the class Insecta, speaking taxonomically. So I don't have to kill any spiders ^w^ Which is a relief, I get to look at them plenty though!
OH! And after it got dark and we caught some moths and caddis flies and nats and stuff on a sheet with a light shining on it, we went out into the darkness of the desert with a black light and found four little scorpions. I like spiders..... Mostly because I can read them and know when to back away XD But scorpions.... I have no idea what those signs are.... I'm terrified of those things ._. .... OH! And there were all these burrows in the ground that we kept falling into and our professor was joking "Oh, 'nother scorpion whole." gonk
Ok, so my availability is very small this semester. I'm taking no art classes, I feel a little deprived, especially since I'm having an artist block and those classes tend to FORCE me out of those annoying things =.=
I'm taking Foundation of Education, a LOT of reading and outlining. I'm taking Entomology, sounds fun and easy but keep in mind I'm an art major ._. this is a very upper division science course so most of what they're going over I've never even heard before. I'm also taking Humanities, which is just plain fun, a lot of reading and writing again, but I think I can handle it. It just means that I have a ton of homework and I still have a job so I can pay for books =.= I basically kissed my social life goodbye, which I would like to keep REAL and not online, so if I have the option of playing online or going out with friends... I'm gonna go out with friends XD I like to pretend I have a life still. I pretty much have no time for a life, pooping, when I should be sleeping I'm reading and doing homework, even my nap time has been taken from me, I don't have time for eating and pissing even. It's still fun though. I have the corn maze coming up too so I'll have TWO jobs @_@ I'm making a Blue Meanie costume (from the Yellow Submarines, if none of you have seen that shame on you, go watch it now it's amazing >w< wink for Halloween.
I've gotten off to a good start so I'm just trying to keep it that way so my classes will slide by smoothly, I got a bunch of papers that aren't due until October and December even out f the way.
Ok my food is done, I'm going to eat and read some more @_@
