Oh I remember now

I know I may sound silly
Whimpy and afraid
I always wanted to be brave for you
But I must admit I'm scared
It's really dark in here
In this place where bad things happen
You used to be afraid of it
Or more likely what we thought was in it
But I've been sitting here for awhile
And there are no monsters in this closet
Just shelves and clothes
And me of course
I miss your warmth
Your smile
I miss playing outside
With you holding me
Its cold and dark here
I hear a shuffling from behind the door
Is that you?
The door swings open
Your smile is huge
Your face is older than I remember
But your eyes are the same
Your hand reaches past me
To grab the prom dress
You must love more than me
You shut the door
