Kelly got home late that night. I was still up when she arrived.
"Shouldn't you be in bed, Jesse?" She asked as she walked in the room. She was wearing her red silk dress with her knee-high leather boots. She had her golden hair up in a pony tail and blue eye-shadow.
"I got worried about you." I grinned as I followed her into the kitchen. I guess she didn't believe me. She smirked and got out a pack of blood for me and poured herself some hot tea.
"So how was school, sucker?" I hate it when she calls me that.
"It was okay. We got a new teacher. Mrs.Whitney is in New Mexico." She glanced at the essay on toothfairies I was holding in my hand.
"I'm guessing he's a freak." She said as she grabbed my cup from the microwave and handed it to me. I grabbed it and took a sip.
"Yeah. He thinks mythical creatures are real."
"Hm. Okay then. Get some sleep, Jesse. You need it." She kissed my cheek and went to bed. I shrugged and got a couple of hours of sleep.

"Time to get up and it's friday. You've got chores this afternoon. So don't make any plans." Kelly said and walked out of my room so I could get ready. I got up and went to my closet. I pulled out my best pair of pants and my favorite Metallica shirt. I slipped into my pants and walked to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I looked in the mirror at the one behind me to examine my back. My eyes widened and I dropped my toothbrush.
"Kelly!" I screamed. I heard Kelly rush up the stairs and to my side.
"What is-?" Her eyes focused on my back. "Oh my, god. What happened?" She asked.
"I don't know. It wasn't there yesterday." I said. She looked at it closely.
"It appears to be tribal markings." She lightly touched my back. "I'll have to look at it later."
"Okay. This afternoon?" She nodded. I sighed and finished getting ready. I walked to the bus stop. I guess Claire was sick because I didn't see her. I shrugged and got on the bus.

First and second period just zoomed by. I was sitting at the lunch table when Claire sat in front of me. She had another girl with her. I looked at Claire and she gave me a big smile.
"Hey, Jesse!" She yelled.
"Hey, Claire." Claire looked at me then her friend and giggled. I gave her a confused look.
"What?" I asked.
"Jesse, this is Sydney." She glanced at Sydney and they both giggled. I dropped my mouth. I thought she would be ugly. She had striaght, long, blonde hair with a redish streak in the front. She wore a white shirt with black jeans and white Chuck's with black laces. Her bookbag was hanging by her side with a checkered design. Her belt was studded so were her wrist bands. She had green eyes with black eye-shadow.
"What's so funny?" I asked.
"You!" They said in unison. I raised an eyebrow.
"How am I funny?"
"Um....I don't really know." Claire said. I rolled my eyes and started playing with my food.
"So Jesse, why are you wearing those Tripp pants?" Claire asked looking under the table. I followed her gaze. Then glanced up at her.
"Why are you looking down there anyway?" Claire looked away blushing.
"Um..I'll be right back. Mrs. Henderson needs me. Jesse, could you watch Sydney for me?"
"Sure. But I think she's old enough to be by herself."
"Not in this town. Or this school." Claire glared at me.
"Okay. I will." I assured her. She looked at us then winked at me. I rolled my eyes again.
"So you're Jesse Sparks?" Sydney asked.
"In the flesh." I smiled.
"Claire told me alot about you."
"Oh. That's cool. I guess." I said. She giggled again.
"You know, I didn't know you would be a beautiful girl." I pointed out. She blushed and turned away. I laughed quietly to myself. Claire cme back and sat down next to Sydney.
"Hey! Did you miss me?" She asked.
"Not really." I muttered. She looked at Sydney who was giggling and blushing then she glared at me.
"Did you turn your charm on and flirted with Sydney?" She asked. I nodded.
"Ugh! Sydney, don't listen to him. He breaks alot of girls' hearts." She said. Sydney dropped her fork and stared at me in disbelief.
