A Short Story, By Aurora (me)
A pale face, and stringy sleek-coal hair surrounding it floated in front of mine. Her eyes gleamed, a gleam as such that I feel I have lost before the sea. Flung beneath the dark green waves, and dark skies was I, as I fell then sank below. My heart beats madly beneath my breast as I gaze upon this woman. She raises her hand to my face, her striking crimson eyes to my own, her expression stark. Fear encircles my mind, as my vision darkens and my heart further quickens, no breath to appease it. Suddenly the maid tightens her purple lips into a smile, leaning forward. She puts a slender hand to my stinging emerald eyes, her lips to my own, and I sense no more.

"What a beautiful Rose..." The maid said as she lifted a young white bud from the ground. "Tis a shame it had to bloom just before the storm." Her green eyes sadly glanced the rose bud over, then laid it to rest beside it's mother stem. She sighed, and took a seat by the garden, and adjusted her bonnet before raising her head to the bright blue sky, scarlet hair swaying in the comfortable breeze, "I wonder when father will come home...?"
Moments later a man came a walking towards the vine-and-flower covered gate. She raised one slim red eyebrow, as she lifted herself from the ground. She walked towards the gate, a dog trailing behind her. "No, Gretchen, it's not Father." She sighed, and opened the gate, waiting for the stranger to arrive. Gretchen sat beside her leg, a rather clumsy coal-black dog.

"Hail Miss Nosire!" The stranger arrived, dressed in dark blue uniform, and golden ribbons sworn upon his breast, and grey-brown hair tucked under his cap, which shaded his golden-brown eyes. "Aye, I am Amrius, a messenger." The man greeted curtly, but not unkindly. "And umeh." The man eyed Gretchen cautiously, "Yer dog bite?"

"Only if you've got food on yerself, and a mind to harm." The scarlet haired maiden replied with smiling green eyes.

"Oh ho ho." Arimus chuckled. "Well, I'm in luck, I'm clean, and I'm never in the mind to harm a woman." His golden-brown eyes twinkled, "especially if it's a pretty one." He laughed louder this time, and removed his cap.

She couldn't help but laugh either. "Well come in Sir Arimus. What news have ye?"
His face quickly became sullen. "Well yeh see, I'd rather tell yah inside... Sitting down." Her green eyes were sent wide with surprise.
"Why I... tell me now." She insisted it. "What happened? Is it... is it about--"
"I'd rather tell yeh when yer sitting down." He repeated, and his grim face was of no comfort.

"No...no! Tell me now!" She demanded shrilly.

He clasped his hands together, thumbs touching. "Well if you insist, Miss."

"I do." She glared.

The man looked to the clear blue sky, then to the maid with a deep breath. "Yer father... he eh, married a mermaid." The maiden's emerald eyes widened again, with a sharp intake of breath. Arimus put his cap on again, to shield his eyes from the maid's, and placed a strong warm hand upon her shoulder. Arimus removed his hand to salute the maidien, turned and walked out of the flower-and-vine covered gate. "Good-day Miss Nosire," he said as she walked away. The maid waited till the man was out of sighte, her knees then buckled, and she fell to the ground, her white dress crumpling around her legs. She held her face within her hands, and wept.

I know it's random. But...
I felt like I needed to write something. An exercise. I wanted to write about one of my greatest fears, death wise.

***In the olden days, when a messenger told you that your brother/husband/son/other had married a mermaid, that was a gentle way of telling them that they had drown at sea. =( Yeah, I know, depressing. I took that idea and wrote this.***

=) Yes Whitney, I stole your sister's dog, and stuck her in this wee story.
And I felt like I needed to update my journal preferences. =) It might change again sometime soon though, not completely satisfied.

Oh btw, any suggestions on a title?

P.S. We have our own theme park! =D I never knew!
http://www.silverwoodthemepark.com/
It's the biggest Theme Park... in the North West.
>.>; so what if it's in Idaho?

Interesting. I'm impressed that it was a whim-write, but I really shouldn't be as they usually are the most out-there or spectacular.

O.o Hmmm....I do wonder what it is about this journal that got you a creepy stalker person.
