Shadow Life
I wander this world
A wraith made flesh
Touching the lives of others
But never touched
I support others in need
With love and compassion
But I am devoid of these things
When it comes to myself
I drift through this life
Helping others when I’m called
And when my work is done
I return to the shadows, alone
I stand apart from others
Unnoticed, outside the crowd
Waiting in quiet solitude
Until the call comes once more

A noble knight, a princess fair
These and more I shall be for you
All you need do is ask
And I shall provide it
A knight for protection
A princess for comfort
Whatever you may need me to be
I shall become just for you
Support do I bring
When you cannot stand
Compassion do I offer
When sorrow buries your heart
And when my work is done
I return to the shadows once more
And take on my true form
That of a misshapen gargoyle
