My Life Goes On
Jenn has been on my mind all day. I put a good face on for Boo. I'm sure he misses his Mom just as much as I do. We need to deal with our loss together. He's such a good kid. I feel he's better than most 14 year olds. I pull up to the house and Rob next door is chopping firewood between our houses. It has been cold lately. I wave to him. The chainsaw stops. He says he's chopping some wood waiting for Mary to get home. I yell to him, "Make sure to chop me some!" He laughs and starts again with the chainsaw. I go in and Boo is playing Fallout 3 on the 360. I sit down and play it with him. We order an All Meat Deluxe pizza from PaPa John's for dinner and play more on the 360. It's 9pm and I have to get up at 3am for work. Rob is still cutting wood at this hour? I ask Boo, "Can you go ask Rob if he can stop? I have to get up early." Boo laughs and jokes that he is off track and doesn't need to worry about sleep. It's good to hear him laugh. I tell him, "Get your a** moving or you can go to sleep too." We both laugh some more. He's out the door. He's back in five minutes and says that Rob is in the garage with the door closed and yelled that he was almost done. I say good night and walk down the hall to try to get some sleep. It's 10pm and Rob's chainsaw is still going. God, I wish he would stop. I go out and ask Boo, "Can you go ask him again to stop with the chainsaw. I need some sleep." I'm starting to get a little irritated. Boo reluctantly says he'll go. I lay down on the couch. The sawing finally stops. 10 minutes later the sawing starts up again and goes for another 10 minutes. Soon after the doorbell rings. I open the door and I can't breathe. I start shaking and nothing comes from my mouth. Boo's body is stacked in perfect foot long pieces on our Welcome mat. His head is resting on top. Eyes staring nowhere. I look up when I hear Rob's voice. He says, "Gee Guy, I would have stopped. All you had to do is ask." He reaches down and grabs a foot. "Sorry, that's Mary's." He turns to walk away. I wake up shaking. I must have fell asleep on the couch. That was a dream, thank God. I look around for Boo. The doorbell rings...Rob's saw is quiet...the doorbell rings again....fin...written by ME
