Shy Iris
Delicate petals surround a small soul.
She sways in the night valley wind, stem tremulous in its wake.
Fear the outside: a petite flower.
Her glorious petals concealed.
Behind a veil of trepidation.
Outside her lonely shell, the stars shine.
Minute, floating crystals glisten through stratums of clouds
Swirling athwart the nighttime sky.
Only to be shattered by the intense luminosity of the birthing sun.
A slender beam of dawn strays to her insipid sheath.
Sensations elicit change.
She reveals her colors in dazzling splendor.
The apprehension deceased by way of day.
A delicate iris revealed.
Her supple petals one with the vast openness of the dotted hillside.
The iris have come to greet the day.
