In a far-off land that many of us have never seen, lived all of our holiday creatures merry on the scene. Now you all remember Jack and the fellow is back! But this time with a new twist, his daughter, Sky, holds the story in her fists. This story is about her, but she has no fur. She has no scales, paws, fins, or claws, but wings of an angel and that was one of her biggest flaws. Now that is all I can tell for right now I can here the bells…….
Halloween was here finally and everyone was getting ready except for Sky. Sky was a highly beautiful girl but everyone saw her as ugly. Well, except her parents of course. No one understood how she turned out to be an angel. Her father Jack (which she was helping get ready) was the Pumpkin King of their town and was the scariest creature of them all. Her mother, Sally, was helping Jack as well. Sally was a doll that was made of scraps of flesh. Together they ruled Halloween town and Sky hoped she would too, someday.
“Father, you look so, so….” Sky stopped and thought of the proper word to say.
“Terrifying?” Sally finished for her.
“Yeah, Terrifying,” She growled and then giggled.
Jack laughed and said, “I see you are practicing how to be a horrible young creature.”
“Yeah…” Sky looked away, “So dad can I come with you and mom! Please I never have gone. You guys always keep me locked up! I can be scary!”
As soon as she said that a little rat came along. Sky ran behind it and yelped as loud as she could. The rat just turned around and cuddled with her. She looked at her parents and weakly smiled. Sally gave her a supportive smile but Jack just shook his head in disapproval.
“You know the rules Sky you must-”
“I know, I know!” she cried “I am not allowed to travel were the people are until I have improved my terrifying look and behave like a monster! I have heard that my whole life” She looked away and mumbled to herself, “I don’t want to be cage up my whole life!”
Sally looked away from her daughter and sighed. She knew exactly how Sky felt. All the while Jack stood admiring himself in front of a cracked mirror. He moved left to right and smiled in approval. He sure did feel like a king!
“Come on Sally! The moon has just risen and I can hear screams in the distance!” he smiled taking his wife’s hand.
“Alright, Sky,” she turned to look at her daughter. “Remember don’t get into anything that is good and stay in the hou-” Sally was cut of by the door slamming.
Sky looked out the nearby window and sighed. Can I ever be the Pumpkin Queen? She thought, I just have to show father that I am fit to be Queen even if I not scary. She looked around the room and sighed.
There was needles and string all on the ground, which didn’t make the ground dirtier because there was water, cracks, dust, and some mold on the ground. The bed was covered with clothes that were too small, too big, or too pretty/nice. The bed itself was unfolded and the sheets were sown together by a numerous number of cloths. The pillows were badly torn and ratted. The wallpaper was black with pictures of dead flowers, broken hearts, skulls, and bats. Her dresser was all wet and barely could support itself much less the clothes in it. She turned toward the mirror and examined herself.
She had long straight brown hair that was cut at the middle of her spine. Her skin was a light brown and her eyes were greener than emeralds. She had a perfectly proportioned body and almost looked exactly like a living being. She was beautiful in everyway but she was considered ugly in Halloween Town.
They judge you by how ugly they look and how mean they are. Sky could never be mean, though, she was too kind. She would always help the little kids get out of trouble and show them kindness. The town’s people always complained to Jack that she was setting a bad example and should be thrown out of town. So Jack told him that he would take care of it and told Sky that she couldn’t go outside until everyone was at home. Right now, no one was here so she ventured outside in the abandoned town.
The streets of the towns were cracked and covered in dust. Buildings were crumbling and all the windows were shattered. Sky sighed and started humming a song she made up. I was called “Rippling Waves”. She made it up with a few of her friends. She smiled. At least I have friends, she thought looking at an empty well. She looked at her reflection and let a tear fall in the well.
Oh how bad she wanted to be like her father. She wanted to be scary and adored, or was it hatred; anyway it would have still felt good. Always, she had felt unwanted but still she strived to belong. But now, that she is 16, she wondering if she even belongs here. To her surprise, when she stopped zoning put, she was crying. She wiped away the tears and stood up tall.
“I, Sky Terror Skellington, will not be crybaby. For I am Jack’s & Sally’s daughter!” As she exclaimed that she smiled out of enjoyment and remembrance. There was one thing she had inherited from her father and mother. She had inherited their singing talents!
