Anticipated Surprise: Extraterrestrials, not aliens! |

Heaveno, people of the world. KingdomHeartsDreamer here, just nonchalantly taking a break from reading City of Glass. Hey, at least it’s not Reborn I’m talking about. At the moment.
Okay, City of Glass is, in my opinion, much calmer and taking in a way deeper thought to Twilight. I’m not bashing the Twilight saga. Oh, not at all. I’m a fan of it (TEAM JACOB LOL). But Cassandra Clare’s novel actually feels more modern. It takes place, not in some random town I haven’t heard of (Forks) but it instead takes place in New York City. I see the actual modern things (Simon plays a DS, and much to my relief, he knows what anime and manga are, as does Clary). Besides, Clare takes a crack at the other things. Actual werewolves, and Nephilim, and not to mention the little arrogant hot guy I don’t exactly love but enjoy the company of (I’m a Simon fan, sorry). The fact that Stephenie Meyer reviewed City of Glass is kind of visible (as in right on the COVER), but I ignore it. It’s okay, though. Whether or not my interest has improved or not will lead me to read Midnight Sun. I’m working on my own novel at the moment.
Which brings me to my next topic. I’m taking it one step further into the world of fiction. In my novel, I currently have a merman, a guy who talks to animals (and they talk to him back), a manipulator (she says persuader, but it’s her opinion), a guy who eats dreams, an immortal who dies if he leaves Earth (and trust me, there isn’t many who’d actually do that because they all care about him), my wonderful blood element character, an energy giver, and last but not least, the guy who can fly. But it’s mainly my novel because Sally and Declan make a special main appearance as two of the main cast members. Sky and Skylar make a brief appearance, and Aero’s my antagonist. The problem with most books I have is when I include one of my imaginary friends, the story tends to drift more to Leosis Inniny. Much more than I tend to, by the way.
The question is, why is it that most people call everyone who isn’t from Earth (and a freak of what isn’t nature, as termed by Skylar) the term “alien.” It’s absurd. Grab a random mind-reader (like Edward, perhaps!) and go up to random people and say the word “alien”. I bet that their first thoughts are little green wrinkly people with black, shiny eyes. But I prefer the term “extraterrestrials.” They’re from outside Earth, and can be any types of race. It saves the time with the stereotype “alien” gives. It gives more trust to extraterrestrials. I deduce that aliens-er, excuse the natural thing my mind comes to because of the Roswell incident; I mean extraterrestrials- probably aren’t showing themselves because then the governments will make a huge fuss. I didn’t even dare ask Fred about Area 51. I always wanted to visit that place…but now’s not the time to mention that. I just ask to use extraterrestrials. It’s a nicer term, in my opinion. But if you desire aliens, I can’t force you.
