Our car broke down the day before yesterday (sunday) in Franklin, KY in the parking lot of Ashli's job as I was leaving from taking her to work...... and we called Mactene when we were running out of options (We just happened to leave our cell at home and we didn't know my dad's number by heart, so we were calling around EVERYONE we knew on Ashli's mother's cell phone *She works in the same store I do, thank god she was in today*. We called a neighbor of ours and they went down to our house to see if my dad was home. Turns out, he was. But when they knocked on the door he conviently chose not to answer today! gonk )
Anyway....not to get off topic. Robert was home but Mac wasn't. So he came with a friend of his (Jumper cables in hand) and tried to give us a jump start! But nothing seemed to work. So we figured the battery was beyond all help and they went home. Robert was all "If you can't get a ride home, call me. Call me. Call me!!!" in his little accent. He was really worried about us. Some people from Ashli's job at Jetter's came down to check on us too.
She has great friends.
So we called our neighbor one more time and begged him to let all hell loose on the door at our house. Ashli told him we'd pay him if we had to! LOL.
So my dad called Fashion Bug and told us he was on his way. I can only imagine the look of pure terror that was on my neighbor's face when my dad answered the door from waking up from his nap or whatever he was doing. rofl
He came down. Tried to get it started. We went home to get HIS jumper cables. Like they'd be any better. *eye roll* We failed to jumpstart the car, so we decided to go up to Wal-mart to get a new battery.
But we brought our old one so they could test it with their battery tester machine.
First they hooked up one machine to it, and it gave good readings. And the guy was all "Let me get another one....this one gives faulty readings sometimes.."
So he got another one and he said it's a bad battery. So we picked out a new battery and he tested it just to be sure it was good.
The machine said that battery (Which was brand new) was bad!! D:< So upon picking out a new one, we got good readings. rolleyes
OKAY.... so we go back down. Install the battery. And activate the anti-theft alarm in the process. *dies* We can't just deactivate it with one of those little remote-transmitter thingies like most people can, because apparently the car company doesn't make them anymore! Why would the manual say we're supposed to have one if they don't!
So we try to turn it off through these long and complicated steps of programming modes and that fails.
My dad at this point thinks the fault is in the radio that my brother installed. He thought it's what caused the alarm to go off. And he thought putting the old one in would fix it. But that's BS because we've had that radio in our car for several weeks.
So he puts in the old radio. NO GOOD.
Finally, the next day (Monday) while I'm in school he takes it to the shop (Having it brought there in a wrecker. That's $100.00 right there) and apparently, the problem is in the starter! The worst possible thing that could be wrong because it's also the most expensive!
And they tested the old battery. Which is just fine! That guy at Wal-mart simply ripped me off. *rabid growl*
We're going to take that new battery back and keep the old one. That's like 70 bucks I shelled out on that thing.
So $400.00 later and much hassle, we finally get our van back. And it runs so much more smoothly now. The starter was making all these indication lights come on before. Now they're all off. So it's much better.
But LESS THAN A WEEK BEFORE PROM? Could the timing be any worse?
We still managed to finish putting together our prom outfits. They're very stylish, if I do say so myself.
And we have reservations at this REALLY nice restaurant in Nashville called Valentino's. It's Italian. I hope we'll still be able to go.
But Ashley gets paid at Jetter's weekly, thank goodness. And her payday is the day before prom. So I think we'll be okay. As long as I chip in for gas, she says.
I was so worried that our prom plans might have been messed up! *le sigh*
Oh, and I signed up for our pictures to be taken at the school before prom. It's going to be great.
Only 4 more days now 'till prom!
And the 12th is my very last day of school. Though 10 days later is my actual graduation. *sweatdrop*
This Thursday I have to buy my cap and gown.
Holy CRAP. EPIC POST.
