We were stunned, all of us! I didn't know what to say! When it was my turn to shake her hand, she pointed me out and said, "Ah, Crystal Morris, so good to see you again. I know you sent flowers, I didn't get the chance to say thank you."
"Oh, it's no big..um..deal." I said, trying to swallow my confusion and talk at the same time. I paused for a while then finally said, "I'm sorry for your loss."
"I know Crystal, I know he used to come over to your house and play with you and your brother. He thought of you as a sister." Great, I liked a boy that thought I was like a sister! That was a shock to the heart, and yet, comforting. I mean, he was taller than me, even though he was younger. I loved Trevor in so many ways. I don't know how to explain it, but hey, who can explain love.
"Oh," I said, biting my tounge. "That's nice." I bowed my head and closed my eyes. How could she not cry. How DARE she not cry. Another question gone unanswered. But, I looked up and she had moved on to the next person she knew, skipping right over Gensis and Jackie. I looked forward, and didn't look back. As I looked forward, I swallowed my tears, as I made my way to a chair and collasped.
Gensis came to me. "Let's get out of here Chris, you don't look so good." I looked at my hands. They were so pale, I could see through them. I've been trying not to cry so much, I must have looked like a ghost holding my breath.
"Yea," I said, "Let's go."
