Dark gray skies loomed over a small quiet village in a valley stuck in between two mountainsides. The morning sun rays didn't shimmer down through the musty clouds like it usually did every other morning. This time, the morning was filled with sorrow and almost pain. Even the elements that surrounded the valley and the little village were drained of energy. The calm, cooling wind didn't dance around in the sky, instead it almost felt dead. The warmth of the sun didn't shine upon anyone's face nor the surface of the land. The streams of water that flowed around in the valley and alongside of the mountains reflected the color of the sky. Even the crystal clear lake close to the village appeared dark and gloomy, and as if the life inside it just stopped. The earth of the valley and mountains was not pure and rich in color or health.
People from inside the village arose to this. Their expressions were filled with confusion and sadness. One small yet old and weak man, stepped out from the gates of the village. He walked out and sat by a statue that lied next to the lake. Putting his wrinkling fingers in the ice freezing water made him tremble, but he swayed his fingers in the water. A younger woman walked up beside him with a sad look on her face.
"Father...?" the younger woman asked in a voice that was so graceful- even on a dark day. Her skin was fair and pale as if snow and her hair was a deep crimson red. She rested one hand on her stomach, which carried a small unborn child.
The man didn't reply at first but as he began to stand up straight, her turned to her and replied. "My dear, it is time. This valley will only see dark days in its future...As the Elder of the village, I will see everyone out of this dying place." Then with her small and warm hand, and grabbed it and stroked it. The woman placed her hand on top of his and gently smiled. "I promise you, you and your child will have a better home, then of this dying place." the man said then walked his way back to the village.
There stood the woman. Her sad blue eyes gazed at the valley around her. She then twitched to the kicking of her child. She rubbed her stomach and smiled.
That was the last of the woman's smile...
A young girl of at least 16 of age walked her way up the side of a mountain side. Strong, cool winds chilled her and slowed her down from climbing the steep slope. Her crimson hair flowed and dance in the sky's gale. As the sun began to appear above the clouds, it glimmered on her hair and pale, white skin. She looked up above her and blocked the bright warmth of the sun from her face with her hands. She gazed at the mountain. Only parts of it were covered it snow and ice.
Sitting down as the wind continued to blow, she quickly placed a warm yet thin jacket on her, that she pulled out from a small bag from around her waist. She also tightened the scarf that wrapped around her neck. She looked at it and stroked the warmth of it. A small tear came down from her cheek but she quickly wiped it away and continued to climb the mountain slope.
As she reached the top of the slope, she looked down at the view below her. She looked at how far she climbed from where she started and then at what was in front of her. Her blue eyes shimmered and gazed at the green valley below her. Small, lively streams flowed around and through the valley. There was also a lake that was clear and reflected the color of the blue sky. The wind was calm and welcoming, and when it blew the grass, the valley looked like a sea of jade green. The warm sun was shining and broke through any cloud in its way.
"This can't be it...It just can't be-" And before she could finish, something caught her eye. In the middle of the valley was a village. It was worn down and abandoned by any means of life. Near it was the clear lake.
Immediately the girl smiled and ran down to the valley. She ran to the lake and looked around it. A small figurine rested next to it. It was a statue of a woman who held a pot of some type which tipped over like it was pouring water of its own. The girl pulled out a piece of crumpled paper and gazed at it and the statue. "Their the...same." She then swung herself around in the tall grass and then fell to her back. She smiled and laughed. "I did find it...I did..." She then slowly closed her eyes and doze to sleep.
