Life is this uber mystery we think about every so often in the back of our minds. I've been thinking about one topic of life recently - namely friends. Who can we count as friends, and who as foes or rivals. I've been friends with these two boys all my life, they know nearly everything about me, and can even guess my thoughts. They're my best friends, and I'm fairly sure that they're true friends, the kind I can trust.

The only problem is they live far away from me. I'd be lucky if I can see them every 3 months!

And so I've developed "friendly" bonds with people around my general area. I'm constantly nice and forgiving to them, even though their problems are many and they are a halssle to keep up with, yet we're still on good terms. The thing is, they rarely do the same for me. I've vowed to try to save as many as I can, even if it means taking a bullet for that person, or giving my life to save theirs. I've always thought, hey, if Jesus can do it for so many and suffer so much, then I can for atleast a single person.

Would they do the same for me?

Do they think of me as being worth saving?

Would they have the decency and humanity to ever think of me again if I give my life for them?

These questions lead me down a dark tunnel, one without a light at the end. Its lifeless and damp, dark and mysterious. It is the ever haunting thought of who my friends really are. Scary, huh?

I mean, if you sit down and write the names of all your friends on a sheet of paper, then try to decipher who would love and care about you enough to actually give their lives to save yours, you'd be just as clueless and daunting as I. You might even turn cold and unforgiving. You may fall into dispair.

So, who are your real friends? Can friends be defined as people you've known for years? Can they be defined as people who's risk their lives for you? Are they blood relatives or your band of brothers? Who knows...perhaps we shall never learn the truth about what lies in the hearts of our friends...
